We are currently seeking a Philanthropy Associate, Special Gifts as part of our Philanthropy team.  The Philanthropy Associate, Special Gifts will provide operational support through world-class stewardship of contributions made via Qualified Charitable Distributions (“QCDs”) and Donor Advised Funds (“DAFs”) ensuring that donors are identified, receipted, thanked, and cultivated for future gifts.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Processing incoming third-party QCD gifts, ensuring gifts are properly credited to related donors. Engaging with third-party administrators as necessary to obtain donor details and intent.
  • Preparing acknowledgment letters and appropriately thank donors through various means (telephone calls, cards, notes, etc.)
  • Assessing if donors warrant referral to other Philanthropy representatives (Transformational, Leadership and Planned) and transition effectively.
  • Assisting in developing strategies to secure recurring gifts. Updating donor database with concise contact notes and determine follow-up actions required.
  • DAF Gift Administration. Processing incoming third-party DAF gifts, ensuring gifts are properly credited to related donors.
  • Collaborating with Philanthropy representatives to design strategies for DAF donors.
  • Assisting VP of Philanthropy and Director of Gift Planning in developing and executing strategies for identifying and soliciting prospects with DAFs.
  • Assisting with other back-office administration. Actively participating in team meetings, preparing weekly and monthly reports summarizing donor contacts and results.
  • Defining and continually refining best practices for QCD and DAF gift administration by participating in training opportunities via the Charitable Gift Planners Association and other relevant organizations.

The ideal candidate will have the following experiences and abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a non-profit fundraising, financial or customer relations environment with a strong emphasis on interpersonal relationships with donors or customers through telephone and written communications.
  • Strong knowledge of the Bible and Christian and Jewish beliefs.
  • Basic level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams,) internet search engines, and donor databases.
  • Basic understanding of personal finance, income tax and investment fundamentals.
  • Basic understanding of various planned giving and retirement planning methods (such as wills, trusts, individual retirement accounts, etc.) with capacity and desire to increase knowledge to intermediate level.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to express self effectively and concisely.
  • Experience and comfort communicating (oral and written) with banking and finance professionals
  • Ability to effectively work independently with minimal direction.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail skills.
  • Comfortable interacting with varying religious traditions.
