Job Title:  Receiving Clerk                                               Job Status:  Full-Time, Non-Exempt

 

Department:  Operations                                               Reports to:  Receiving Manager  

 

 

Purpose of Role: The SF-Marin Food Bank seeks a responsible Receiving Clerk to receive, inspect and record shipments. Receiving Clerk is responsible for unloading freight, checking packages and their contents to ensure they match the orders. A receiving clerk must have a great eye for detail and basic math skills. They must also have adequate physical strength to unload receipts as well as the clerical and basic computer skills to update records. The goal is to ensure we receive the correct packages and stock them appropriately.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  1. Safety
    1. Workplace
      • Demonstrate adherence to safety through consistent actions in line with safety expectations and adherence to all related policies and procedures
      • Ensure safety policy is followed by all staff when carrying out all day to day activities
      • Promote safety and adherence to SF-Marin Food Bank policies and procedures, standard operating procedures and federal/state regulations (Food Handling, DOSH and OSHA)
    2. Physical
      • Regularly sitting on a forklift
      • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time
      • A good sense of balance
      • Good eye-hand-foot coordination
      • Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
      • Ability to work in varying temperatures (cooler, freezer, etc.)

  2. Operations
    1. Overall
      • Assist in maintaining an organized warehouse that maximizes space and efficiency while promoting a sanitary and safe work environment.
      • Assist in coordinating the flow of inbound & outbound freight, including but not limited to:
        • Purchase orders, Donation orders, Food Drive (barrel) donations, Fresh Rescue program, Agency Orders, and SF-Marin Food Bank facility transfers
      • Assist Manager, and Lead Receiving Clerk in the effort to continuously improve the following functions:
        • Inbound Receiving
        • Facilities & Equipment (i.e., cleanliness, maintenance, and proper care of all SF-Marin Food Bank property)    
        • Performs other duties and projects as assigned and required to effectively operate the warehouse
      •  Works with Food Resources to coordinate (delivery truck) scheduling when needed.
      • Assist Receiving Manager and Lead Receiving Clerk with the flow of paperwork in the warehouse so that all receiving, and transfers are accurately recorded
  • Ensure proper receiving by matching bills of lading against actual merchandise received
      • Ensure compliance with receiving specifications, and seals loaded boxcars and truck doors, with an emphasis on food safety
      • Provide food bank teams with proper receiving documentation for all inbound USDA loads
      • Collaborate with the other teams on all inventory, order, receiving, and food safety related concerns as needed
      • Perform system required pallet movements and remanufacturing item journals as necessary
      • Moving goods packed on pallets or in crates around the facility
      • Stacking goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions
      • Checking loads are secure
      • Stacking empty pallets
      • Performing daily equipment checks 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience as receiving clerk or similar position
  • Experience in operating forklifts including reach trucks
  • Working knowledge of computer programs for entering data
  • Solid understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Basic math and recording abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Great communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Good physical condition
  • High School diploma
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary.

 

 

*SALARY: Grade 2 $39,583.93 to $52,778.23

Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday
