Overview
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Advancement in the School of Arts & Sciences, the Associate Director of Leadership Giving is a front facing gift officer who will work to capture, renew, and increase support of current use funds for the School of Arts & Sciences. Low to mid-level donor portfolio management is the primary focus for this position, working to identify leadership annual giving and major gift prospects. Along with high volume discovery work, s/he will be responsible for securing 1887 Society donors for the school; bolstering school and departmental annual funds. This role will identify school-specific areas to increase donor engagement and stewardship for those in the 1887 Society by creating meaningful school based touch points for those within the society. A successful candidate will become well versed in the unrestricted needs of the school, therefor helping to build the case for, and show impact of, the annual funds within. When needed, s/he will collaborate closely with the Annual Giving Director to develop annual giving mass solicitation strategies for the School of Arts & Sciences.Travel will be required 30-40 % of the time.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the Sr. Director of Advancement in the School of Arts & Sciences to understand the school's priorities and how the annual fund supports the work of the dean and faculty. Helps to strengthen the case for annual fund support and helps to steward its donors by sharing the impact of those gifts.
  • Works with the Sr. Director of Advancement in the School of Arts & Sciences to understand and address current pipeline gap areas in the annual giving portfolio.
  • Works with the Director of Annual Giving, University Advancement to develop annual revenue targets, participation rate, and acquisition and retention targets. Works with the Sr. Director of Advancement to set major gift identification goals and overall performance metrics (in conjunction with the Annual Giving Director).
  • Responsible for personally cultivating and soliciting annual giving leadership donors in the School of Arts & Sciences ($1,000 - $49,999), ensuring 1887 Society renewals are occurring for school based donors, and assisting with solicitation of annual fund support with the Board of Visitors in the School of Arts & Sciences.
  • Conducts face-to-face visits with School of Arts & Sciences prospects and donors, including alumni and unaffiliated donors. The Associate Director will be accountable for personal visits, solicitations and revenue goals in addition to the Annual Fund programmatic goals.
  • Develops systems to move major gift prospects out of the annual fund prospect pool and into the Sr. Director of Advancement's portfolio so that donors are routinely and reliably advanced as major gift prospects.
  • Uses University Advancement's database to document call reports and other relevant information about donor and prospect engagement. Efficiently and effectively combs through a larger list of highly modeled prospects to qualify and disqualify them for larger philanthropic engagement.
  • Develop and maintain an excellent knowledge and understanding of the higher education fundraising climate and be constantly looking to identify and implement innovative and creative fundraising techniques, both in terms of engagement and advancement activities in general. Attend School of Arts & Sciences donor events as needed
  • Takes on new projects as assigned. Job related projects as assigned
  • Support the Division of University Advancement in achieving its strategic and fundraising goals, as well as Campaign goals, through positive and productive interaction and collaboration with all departmental staff, University liaisons, and external constituents.

    Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years of fundraising experience required. Experience working in a higher education fundraising office is preferred, experience with event planning or stewardship preferred. Proven experience as a fundraiser will be evaluated. Experience within Raisers Edge or another database CRM is preferred but not required.

    Working knowledge of the Google suite of applications, and Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to learn new software programs and functions including donor database and online community. Must demonstrate a high level of organization, initiative, professionalism, flexibility. Ability to accept and process feedback and a collaborative working style are essential.

    Must have excellent communications, organizational, and inter-personal skills. Attention to detail and ability to follow through on projects from conception and planning to implementation and evaluation is necessary.

    Possession of current and valid U.S. driver's license appropriate to the type of university vehicle and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record (MVR) as stipulated in the Vehicle Guidelines and Procedures Manual administered through the office of Environmental Health and Safety. Annual clearance of MVR check through the Office of Environmental Health and Safety.
