Position Description 

 

Comic Relief US is seeking a Director of Digital Product and Projects to oversee the evolution of Comic Relief’s digital platforms, implement new technology and guide digital to completion.

 

This senior leader will help set the strategy and devise solutions to help Comic Relief drive growth and engagement on its websites (rednoseday.org, comicrelief.org). They will be a key member of the Comic Relief digital team, a nimble and evolving group, responsible for the online engagement and growth of Comic Relief supporters including donors, partners, grantees, and stakeholders. The team works closely across the Comic Relief organization, partnering with the Marketing, Fundraising, and Grants teams to strategize, drive audience and membership, fundraise, and develop and run campaigns and activations.

 

This position reports directly to the Head of Digital.

 

About The Role

Comic Relief US seeks an energetic leader able to generate ideas and put them into action -- conceptualizing strategy and managing through to execution. This is both a very strategic and very hands-on role.

 

The Director of Digital Product and Projects is responsible for developing a product roadmap inclusive of front-end and back-end capabilities that will support our growth efforts efficiently and effectively. Under their purview is Comic Relief’s on- and off-platform technology solutions and user experiences. This includes optimizing user experience, best practice implementation to maximize online donations and membership growth, implementing testing capabilities, upgrading publishing capabilities, etc. They will manage internal and external development resources. The Director of Digital Product and Projects is one of three Digital thought-partners and will work with the Head of Digital to produce new ideas and also cultivate idea generation from within their team.   • You have proven success in building or growing a successful digital presence for a national nonprofit or philanthropy
  • You live and breathe digital product and user experience
  • You are an expert in web development best practices and processes

What you'll bring to the team:

  • Minimum 10 years experience in digital product or website oversight for a large, national charity, philanthropic organization, or fundraising platform; or a for-profit company with a focus on growing audience and driving digital transactions
  • Strong customer orientation with the ability to understand the needs and motivations of customer segments is a must
  • Strong track record of managing technology or digital projects to completion
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to leverage data and insights to drive UX performance and optimization
  • Deep understanding of web publishing platforms including Drupal and WordPress along with fluid knowledge of CRM platforms and capabilities
  • Direct hands-on work with Blackbaud is a plus
  • Strong cross-functional team management skills and leadership/people management skills required
  • Savvy, strategic thinker who has experience utilizing traditional and non-traditional methods to create digital solutions
  • Budget management and forecasting ability required
  • Strong leadership and management skills along with the ability to hire and mentor talent
  • Hands-on, enthusiastic, adaptable, positive changemaker
