The Prospect Research Analyst (PRA) reports to the VP Foundation Operations. The PRA role researcher, analyzes and recommends strategy on donors and prospective donors with major gift capacity ($10K+). 


Prospect Research

Conducts reactive research using a wide variety of biographical, organizational and financial sources.

Prepares briefing, bios and additional research to inform decisions for the Foundation gift officer staff.

Prospect Identification

Assess capacity, interests, philanthropy and relationships to identify and qualify new prospective donors.

Use of bi-weekly patient screening results, daily gift reports, referrals by staff, physicians and volunteers and by sphere of influence mapping to identify and qualify new prospects.

Produce prospect screening lists for development officers to review with volunteers.

Portfolio Management

Upon the direction of the VP Fdn Operations, participate in Portfolio Review sessions with major gift officers.

Use research to provide suggestions/strategies for qualification, cultivation and solicitation of prospects.

Work closely with the VP Foundation Operations to assign prospects to portfolios.

Other Aspects:

Participate in major gift meetings. Build strong interpersonal relationships with the gift officers to provide on-going support and research.

Guide the gift officer staff on the use of software application and the PHF donor CRM and how to use those most effectively for reporting and organizing their work.

Save research notes in the Foundation's CRM system according to process approved by VP Foundation Ops.

Adhere to coding standards to track research activity and screened/identified prospects in the foundation's CRM system to facilitate reporting. Produce reports from the PHF CRM related to research activity.

Review daily, weekly and monthly publications to uncover timely information about prospects, donors, trustees, board members and others to facilitate in the cultivation of prospects. Provide information to appropriate development staff.

Work successfully as part of a team and responsible for developing then maintaining strong working relationships with co-workers.

Special projects:

Assist in training staff on research, moves management and other prospect development aspects of PHFs donor CRM system.

Develop prospect development documentation.

Keep up to date on market trends and best practices in order to improve services.

Recommend and monitor processes, as well as assist in the implementation of recommended practices in order to improve effectiveness.



Education: Bachelors Degree required

3 years of related experience in prospect research, including experience with targeted searches using online sources like: Lex/Nex, RelSci, iWave.

Experience using Salesforce or other fundraising CRMs/Databases to store, extract, search for information.

Ability to peruse large files of information, find the details relevant to fundraising, present finding and recommendation clearly, concisely and accurately.

Candidate must be independent thinker, self-starter, detail oriented, well organized and be able to plan and execute projects from conceptions to completion.

Exceptional ethics and integrity, ability to be discrete and maintain donor confidentiality.

Successful experience working with donor related information and proficient working knowledge of data management, queries, exports reporting and prospect research.

Enjoys learning and discovering better ways to maximize return.

Be comfortable with change and shifting priorities.

Must work well in a team environment.
