Position Summary:

The Associate Director of Information Systems and Analytics provides data analysis and reporting needed for the operation success of the Department of Institutional Advancement. The expectation of this position is to provide directive driven reporting analysis in a timely manner. Develops quality reporting deliverables, implements effective reporting throughout the department. Will maintain relationships throughout the institution with data stewards of other departments.

This position will be responsible for the completion of data projects, while assisting in the migration of reports into SSRS and Power BI.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting the Sr. Director of Advancement Information Systems in key reporting projects, report migration needs, and servicing existing reports for changes in Microsoft Management Studio (SSMS) , Reporting Services, and Power BI
  • Coordinates within the Department of Institutional Advancement, and Information Technology Services for interdepartmental and inter-system projects
  • Processes reporting requests daily, either requiring the execution of existing reports, or creation of new solutions. At times reports will need to be adjusted or updated to fit the changing needs of the department, while considering for specific requests in data
  • Mass data migration related to financial and biographical information belonging to donors and alumni constituents, via the use of SQL scripting and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Expected, but not limited to reviewing and testing files for software compatibility, working with large data sets. Responsible for interpreting organizational needs and presenting data in a way that will drive successful organizational decisions
  • Understanding of and inquisitiveness in technology integration, reporting platforms, individual records management, and overall approaches to information accuracy
  • Document, design, and deploy data reports, data objects, and workflows
  • Maintain expectations of reporting needs with the department, communicating status of requests and anticipated changes effecting deadlines
  • Unquestionable discretion and ability to process confidential information in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Experience & Educational Background:

    • BS/BA preferred or equivalent education and experience
    • 4+ years of hands on database reporting experience, preferably with Microsoft SQL Server
    • 4+ years of experience in reporting and analytics
    • 2+ years of experience with the Microsoft Stack (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS)
    • 2+ years of experience with a dashboard and analytics tool (Tableau, Power BI, Qlikview)
    • 2+ year reporting project management experience


    Skills & Competencies:


    • 5+ years SQL, preferably T-SQL

    • 3+ years of Higher Education and Institutional Advancement experience

    • 2+ years Financial Reporting experience

    • iModules or similar emailing marking system experience

    • Microsoft Office expert with high proficiency in MS Excel

    • Experience with Ellucian Banner, Ellucian CRM Advance, or Microsoft Dynamics

    • Ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively with technical and non-technical staff

    • Cross-departmental application of reporting tools

    • Ability to analyze, forecast, and present data in a meaningful way for operational and business planning
