Associate Vice Chancellor of Development & Alumni Affairs

UTC and the UC Foundation is looking to re-focus and grow its development team.  We are looking for an experienced dynamic leader who understands University process and metrics and will work beside the Vice Chancellor in recruiting, setting goals and building on the organization’s past success.

 Position:

Works with the Vice Chancellor to provide strategic leadership and overall campaign planning for the Gary W. Rollins College of Business, College of Health Education and Professional Studies, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Engineering and Computer Sciences, Honors College, Campus Initiatives and the UTC central fundraising functions such as planned giving, corporate and foundation relations, stewardship and communications to provide the philanthropic support needed for the university’s growth and achievement.

Communicates with external constituencies including alumni, friends, and corporations in support of the University of Tennessee Chattanooga from a gift planning perspective.

Leads, recruits, motivates, coordinates and retains a strong advancement team including gift planning team to exceed fundraising goal established by way of capital campaign.

Manages a portfolio of major gift prospects as well as leading and managing a team that raises $12-$15 million annually.

Serves as a member of the senior leadership team and provides additional support at the direction of the Vice Chancellor for Advancement in support of university wide campaign and campus initiatives including scholarships, fellowships, professorships, and other strategic initiatives.

Maintains a strong working relationship with senior leadership of the University of Tennessee Chattanooga including the Chancellor, Provost, Deans, and other senior leaders on campus.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is a model metropolitan university.  UTC is the second largest campus of the University of Tennessee System. The academic colleges and Graduate School offer multiple degree programs with several program concentrations.

Qualifications:  A Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s preferred.   Eight plus years of advancement experience required; preferable in Higher Education. Ten plus years of advancement experience preferred.  Previous management experience – required minimum 2 years.   The ideal candidate will be highly supportive of and committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities of the position. Experience in development, marketing, or sales related field is required.  The ability and willingness to travel is required.

Skills:  Excellent computer, verbal and written communication, and demonstrated organizational skills necessary. An understanding of University dashboards, metrics and reports.  In addition, the position involves the need to be able to work independently, build relationships, and solicit gifts.
