SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Major Gifts and Planned Giving Manager, the Individual Giving Manager is responsible for managing TNDC’s fundraising programs for individual giving, including workplace giving.

This position will be responsible for the organization’s efforts to increase individual giving through a variety of donor appeals including direct mail, email, online giving, social media, and donor marketing communications. Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to increase philanthropic support from individuals throughout the year; creating specific plans for donor acquisition, renewal, lapsed, and stewardship.

Analyze donor data in Raiser’s Edge including tracking and reporting  on appeals and campaigns and make or recommend changes as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create a comprehensive annual giving plan, including strategies for growing the individual donor base through acquisition, lapsed, renewal, and stewardship initiatives.
  • Meet annual giving revenue fundraising goals established in partnership with the Major Gifts and Planned Giving Manager.
  • Analyze metrics regarding acquisition, lapsed, renewal, and stewardship initiatives.
  • Manage annual giving program including: direct mail, email solicitation, online, and social media fundraising. Including creating compelling acquisition, retention, and renewal copy in line with TNDC branding/messaging, partnering with designers, printers, and mail house vendors, and analyzing appeal results.
  • Oversee all aspects of Groundbreakers, TNDC’s growing monthly sustainer donor program, including marketing, stewardship, strategy, and reporting.
  • Conduct regular reviews of individual donor and prospect lists to identify donors with capacity and inclination to be solicited for a major gift ($500+).
  • Maintain a strong pipeline of potential major gifts and planned giving prospects for the Major Gifts and Planned Giving Manager, ensuring seamless stewardship and cultivation for donors at all levels with a focus on increasing giving.
  • Implement TNDC’s online giving strategy, including technologies, content, frequency of communication and online donations using all appropriate social media (in collaboration with the Communications Manager and Major Gifts and Planned Giving Manager).
  • Work in partnership with the Database Manager to record and track revenue results related to appeals and individual giving.
    Actively participate as an integrated, valued member of the Fund Development team.
  • Assist with special events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Familiarity supporting direct mail, monthly sustainer giving, and individual/annual fundraising appeals.
  • Experience keeping projects on deadline and on budget.
  • A strong initiative in carrying out responsibilities.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities and an ability to balance a meticulous attention to detail with a larger perspective on a project. Ability to prioritize work and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent, well-rounded written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write and edit compelling copy in line with a style guide and agency branding.
  • Ability to oversee job-related tasks to be completed by volunteers, interns, contractors, or temporary employees.
  • A donor-centric positive and helpful attitude.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Appreciation for the diverse populations of TNDC (tenants, board members, volunteers, donors, and staff), the Tenderloin, and San Francisco and an ability to relate well with people at every economic level.
  • Ability to move from place to place; use a computer for extended periods.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Three or more years of demonstrated success in nonprofit or related individual giving programs with at least one year of primary responsibility.
  • Three or more years’ experience using a database management system, preferably Raisers Edge.
  • Experience working with external vendors such as graphic designers, printers, and mail houses.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds in order to perform essential functions.
