Position Summary

Orr Group is looking for a marketing, communications and business development strategist who can help drive efforts to achieve aggressive growth goals. We have doubled in size over the past five years, growing on average 15% annually. Our objective is to double again over the next five years, which will require at least 17% average annual growth. Enhancing our marketing, communications and business development efforts will be crucial in realizing this vision. This leader will play a key role in achieving these results.

This position may be based in one of our emerging markets and will manage growth regionally, nationally and internationally (as needed).

Responsibilities

  • Serving as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, partner with Management to form aggressive marketing, communications, and business development strategies
  • Oversee complete marketing, communications, and business development efforts of the firm including supervision of a Senior Associate Director, Marketing and Communications and an Associate, Business Development
  • Provide ongoing leadership to the firm’s Growth Team, consisting of marketing and business development specialists; ensure a data-driven approach and efforts commensurate to meet goals
  • Provide ideation for business development, marketing initiatives, or relationship building opportunities that will result in lead generation for Orr Group
  • Provide advice and strategy for moving relationships and leads through the pipeline
  • Continually update, improve, and report on the progress of our marketing, communications and business development outcomes
  • Work closely with the Senior Associate Director, Marketing and Communications and cross-functional teams including Managing Directors, Vice Presidents, and other departments to gather information, and where necessary, develop new content to be used in marketing materials, thought leadership pieces, proposals and contracts
  • Lead staff in a variety of functions including proposal generation, social media, analytics and reporting, designing and executing thought leadership events, building a robust sales pipeline, supporting relationship managers as they advance and close leads and other duties necessary to achieve growth goals
  • Oversee website development and graphic design, working with external support to keep the brand fresh in the firm’s digital and print collateral
  • Maintain consistency of brand and brand values throughout collateral, communications, and media channels

 

Requirements

  • 10+ years’ relevant experience as a brand strategist or marketing director, preferably with a professional services firm
  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Marketing, Communications, or other related field from an accredited College or University required (Master’s Degree preferred)
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of fundraising and the nonprofit sector
  • Highly proficient in MS Office products
  • Familiarity with CRM systems is an advantage
  • Strong focus on customer service quality and teamwork
  • Analytical capability to evaluate information and data
  • Systematic approach to conducting and synthesizing extensive research using multiple resources
  • High energy and comfort working in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively and coherently compose text and publication materials involving technical and professional services content
  • Strong time/project management and organization skills and the ability to remain flexible and effective under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to work long and varying hours (when needed) to meet fixed deadlines
