Description:

The Senior Program Officer leads key investments within the Citi Foundation’s grantmaking portfolio, collaborating with national and local community organizations to design and implement programs that promote economic progress and improve the lives of people in low-income communities across the United States.   

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source, design and review proposals and move requests through the approval process in accordance with Citi Foundation policies, procedures, and quality and timeliness goals
  • Manage and monitor individual investments and conduct periodic portfolio evaluations to assess outcomes and effectiveness, and presenting findings to senior management
  • Support the implementation of an evolved grant making approach that embeds a race equity lens and fosters a culture of diversity and inclusion across the Foundation’s practices and team
  • Identify cross-functional synergies with internal Community Investing and Development units   
  • Coordinate relationship management activities with other internal stakeholders including Global Public Affairs and Human Resources and collaborate with Citi businesses and units to implement a more than philanthropy approach
  • Represent the Citi Foundation at convenings, public events, community meetings and conferences, and other internal and external visibility opportunities
  • Convene thought leaders and key stakeholders, such as grantees, other funders, policymakers, and researchers to develop opportunities for innovation and collaboration and promote the Foundation’s knowledge building agenda
  • Stay abreast of relevant research, trends and policy issues and develop ongoing relationships with key stakeholders in the field

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in philanthropy, economic development or partnership development
  • Subject matter expertise in financial inclusion and/or community development  
  • Knowledge/experience in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion efforts as part of the grant-making process and commitment to their central focus as a core tenant of philanthropy
  • Strong understanding of how corporate foundations operate and ability to maximize resources to generate impact
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team and contribute positively to a high energy, high performing team environment
  • Strong track record of serving as a convener and connector  
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills with an ability to juggle competing demands
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to distill and explain complex concepts
  • Experience consulting and collaborating with senior leaders in various functional areas and working collaboratively to achieve shared outcomes
  • Strong analytic, financial analysis and problem solving skills
  • Ability to exhibit sound independent judgment
  • Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Master’s degree in a related field degree preferred
