The Aspen Leadership Group is proud to partner with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the search for a Chief Advancement Officer for the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.

Reporting to the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, the Chief Advancement Officer will provide strategic vision, leadership, and direction for all fundraising, alumni engagement, and advancement operations for the College. The Chief Advancement Officer will translate the Dean's strategic vision and priorities for the College into productive relationships with the College’s key prospects, donors, and alumni, serving as a partner with stewardship and donor relations, events, alumni relations, and communications colleagues on department and college-wide initiatives, and funding priorities.

The scope of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences spans the breadth of human endeavor. It is home to a third of students and faculty members on the Urbana-Champaign campus. More than 99 percent of Illinois students take a class in the college, and it offers about 1,500 unique classes each semester. The College offers more than 70 majors, 60 minors, and numerous certificates, and its 14,000 students develop broad perspective and skills. The college's 600+ faculty members lead their fields—with 11 Nobel Laureates and 18 Pulitzer Prizes winners. They also share their scholarship with students in the classroom and through research opportunities. Its 180,000+ alumni are accomplished people who change the world every day, including Nobel Laureates and Pulitzer Prize winners, as well as business leaders, public servants, entrepreneurs, teachers, and researchers who serve as the core of many companies and organizations.

On October 13, 2017, the university publicly launched its fourth, and most ambitious, comprehensive campaign, With Illinois. This $2.25 billion campaign will support Illinois students, faculty, research, and infrastructure; and continue to elevate the values that make Illinois distinctive. The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences recently met its $200 million With Illinois goal with six months left in the campaign.

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks a Chief Advancement Officer for the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences with a commitment to its mission to enhance the lives of citizens in Illinois, across the nation, and around the world through its leadership in learning, discovery, engagement, and economic development; an ability to work in a highly self-directed and creative manner; superb oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; knowledge of the principles of advancement, fundraising, and administration in a university environment; knowledge of or experience working in the major components of advancement including development, communications and public relations, alumni engagement, and special events; knowledge of planned giving fundraising vehicles; and experience supervising and managing a large professional team. A bachelor’s degree is required for this position as is at least seven to ten years of advancement experience, preferably in a higher education environment, and five years of management experience. This position is located in Urbana, Illinois. Because it is expected that the successful applicant will be an active member of the college’s leadership team as well as the Urbana-Champaign community, the next Chief Advancement Officer is expected to reside in a location reasonably accessible to the campus. All applications must be accompanied by a cover letter and résumé.
