About The Role
The Assistant Director will join a growing
Development team and help establish fundraising as a robust revenue
stream for MassChallenge. You will find a strong organizational
commitment to fundraising, but Development is a startup team; a
successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial fundraising
professional who is eager to build systems, donor participation,
and excitement for philanthropy internally and externally.
Reporting to the Director of Development, the
Assistant Director of Annual giving will oversee the planning,
execution, and management of a comprehensive annual giving program,
including developing a coordinated matrix of multi-channel
communications, stewardship activities, and fundraising operations
management. You will operate within the context of growing annual
revenue and shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support among
MassChallenge alumni, experts, and community members.

Job Responsibilities
Lead strategy development and management of
multi-channel annual giving appeals, direct marketing initiatives
and communications, including managing internal and external
deadlines, organizing input from key stakeholders and generating
mail lists.
Develop and implement targeted strategies to
increase leadership donor, alumni, and expert giving rates through
special events, unique touch points, appeals, and social media
Manage annual stewardship efforts by building a
robust engagement strategy to regularly communicate and provide
value to MassChallenge donors of all levels
Plan a handful of small to medium fundraising
events throughout the year in partnership with the Development
team
Manage cross-functional annual Award Sponsorship
effort
Ensure gift process (executed by Development
Associate and Finance) runs smoothly
Utilize Salesforce to create reports and perform
segmentation analysis to inform fundraising strategy decisions
Work effectively and in close partnership with
colleagues in Marketing and Communications, Events, and Data to
execute on Development goals and projects
Manage the Development Associate who supports the
entire Development team, but with a majority focus on Annual
Giving, Development operations, and prospect research
As a People Manager, you will build a strong
relationship with your direct report, understand their career and
life goals, set goals with them linked to business priorities, and
regularly listen to, coach, motivate and recognize them
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of
development/fundraising experience; experience with Annual Giving
strongly preferred.
Demonstrated success in project management, direct
marketing, and/or fundraising initiatives with the ability to
manage multiple projects successfully in a fast-paced
environment.
Excellent organizational, time management,
attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong interpersonal skills; able to establish
collaborative working relationships at all levels
Demonstrated experience using Excel and Word (mail
merges, report generation, data analysis).
Experience with fundraising CRMs and email
marketing software; Salesforce & Hubspot a plus
Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical
skills, including using data to inform actions
