Baruch College - Development Grants Specialist

 

Job Description:

The Specialist Development Grants, will support the identification and research of grant opportunities from both corporate and foundation funders. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Development of Foundation Relations, the Specialist will assist in proposal development, data collection and reporting. Working with partners across the College, the Development Grants Specialist will identify emerging opportunities to support current academic, educational and cultural initiatives on campus.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop proposals and serve as the writer for grants for corporate and foundation grants
  • Research corporate and foundation donors utilizing research databases – including Foundation Directory Online, Raisers Edge, Pivot database, assessing for linkages and funding opportunities that align with College’s strategic priorities
  • Draft reports and other institutional donor correspondence
  • Collect and prepare data for the grant proposal and reporting processes
  • Liaise with colleagues around the campus to facilitate the fundraising process
  • Prepare online submissions seeking foundation and corporate funding
  • Maintain all tracking of application, proposal and report due dates
  • Maintains and updates donor records
  • Creates initial proposal budgets
  • When appropriate, engage funders and prepare initial cultivation proposal, and liaise with SPAR to submit proposal through RF-CUNY
  • Prepare quarterly alerts for Deans and faculty of the three schools on new funding opportunities
  • Plan and execute customized stewardship events for funders, showcasing programs, student outcomes and faculty projects
  • Recruit and supervise volunteers and interns
  • Performs other tasks as required by the supervisor

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Prospect Research Tools (ex- FC Search)
  • Strong analytical, research and technical skills to evaluate and use data in planning and decision making
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in EXCEL
  • Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge NXT
  • Demonstrated track record in securing grants
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize various online portals for grant submission (ability to convey scope of projects in character/space constrained environments)
