The Aspen Leadership Group is proud to partner with Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts in the search for a Vice President, Chief Development Officer.

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President, Chief Development Officer will lead and manage the Development program, which includes staff reporting from the key areas of membership, major gifts, annual giving, foundation, corporate and other institutional grants, fundraising events, and development services. The Vice President, Chief Development Officer will participate in institution-wide strategic planning, operational management, board relations, budget forecasting, and will help champion Caramoor’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. The Vice President, Chief Development Officer will develop and direct fundraising strategies, working collaboratively with artistic and marketing partners, to align annual plans to raise $4+ million to meet the demands of a growing organization; implement and manage the process of strategic discovery, research, and identification of major donors, as well as annual fund pipelines; and lead the development and execution of all actions to cultivate, solicit, recognize, and renew these donors, both individual and foundation/institutional.

Caramoor's mission is to enrich the lives of audiences through innovative and diverse musical performances of the highest quality; mentor young professional musicians; and engage children through interactive, educational experiences that deepen their relationship to and their understanding of music. These three prongs — music performance, musician mentoring, and music education — inform everything it does. Located on an 80-acre campus in the idyllic hamlet of Katonah, New York, Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts  has been in continuous operation since 1946 when art patrons, Lucie and Walter Rosen opened their doors to welcome artists and audiences to be inspired by music in the context of their beautiful estate. It presents approximately 55 live music performances throughout the year in a wide range of genres, culminating in a major summer season starting in June through early August. Through its public programs and community events, Caramoor annually serves approximately 40,000 people.

Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts seeks a Vice President, Chief Development Officer with a commitment to the mission of Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts; experience managing and providing skillset growth opportunities for a team of development staff; a proven track record of successful major gifts solicitations; significant and progressively responsible experience demonstrating a clear ability to develop and implement fundraising strategies; knowledgeable of and experienced in best practices in cultural organization development efforts; an ability to work with high-level volunteers and donors; exceptional organizational, planning, and leadership skills; an ability to develop successful corporate, foundation, and/or government grant proposals; exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills; proficiency using relational and prospect management databases; proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, budgets, and basic accounting principles; and experience in arts-related fundraising (preferred). A bachelor's degree is required for this position as is at least seven years of experience as a nonprofit professional. All applications must be accompanied by a cover letter and résumé.
