DEPLOY/US is an accelerator of climate leadership. We scale the
capacity and impact of the field of climate-forward civic
enterprises leading and engaging right-of-center constituencies,
through convening, infrastructure, and grantmaking, as a crucial
foundation to achieve bipartisan breakthroughs on climate-change
mitigation policy. DEPLOY/US is a strictly nonpartisan 501(c)3
DEPLOY/US’ CFO & COO serves as a key member of the
leadership team and has broad oversight of operations and finance.
The CFO & COO also supports the CEO as a key internal strategy
advisor, and serves as Treasurer.
Core operational responsibilities include oversight of human
resources, management of legal matters including contracts,
oversight of insurance and technology solutions, and managing
back-end operations. Core financial responsibilities include
overall financial oversight, overseeing all accounting matters,
cash management, budget preparation and oversight, management of
state charitable solicitation registrations, and management of the

- Oversee all financial and accounting
functions including daily accounting (includes management
of part-time bookkeeper), cash management, A/R, A/P, monthly
reconciliations and other monthly closing procedures, updating
DEPLOY/US’ accounting policies and procedures, reviewing and
updating internal fiscal safeguards, and ensuring compliance with
GAAP, regulatory requirements, and audit
- Maintain cash flow and budget forecast and
provide monthly updates and analysis to the rest of the leadership
- Draft (in partnership with the rest of the leadership team) and
manage the annual budget.
- Manage all finance-related relationships
(banking, lending, federal and state compliance, CPAs and auditors,
- Distribute grant awards and maintain
internal finance-related grant records. Review and advise on grant
agreements (legal, risk, finance details) and related proposal
- Ad-hoc and regular analysis and
reporting, including quarterly and annual financial
reports to the Board, regular reports to the rest of the leadership
team, grant-related analysis and reporting, and more.
- Provide oversight and guidance on all
donations (booking details, restrictions,
Manage the preparation,
completion, and timely filing of all tax and related
forms, including Form 990, annual state charitable
registrations (e.g., Form MA PC and similar for 13 states), Forms
1099 and 1096, annual audit, and more.
Oversee all back-end
operations systems including GSuite, Google Groups, Google
Shared Drives, all data backups, and more. Evaluate and advise on
IT security risks; implement related risk mitigation
Manage all Human Resources
functions, including hiring (lead or support),
onboarding/offboarding, state compliance, monthly payroll, 401k
contributions, all related filings (e.g., W-2s, 1099s, 941s, 940,
etc.), monitor benefits, and track flextime.
Oversee legal and risk
mitigation including serving as lead contact for all
internally-focused legal matters (legal counsel, state and federal
regulatory bodies, long-term licenses or leases), providing support
and evaluation for all externally-focused legal matters, monitoring
and updating organizational policies, and oversight of all
- Support the CEO’s Board engagement
(assisting in developing meeting strategy, structure, and
objectives; support and advice on board development, process and
compliance, etc.), serve as Treasurer, prepare and present
quarterly board financial reports, maintain and update the Board
Playbook and file the annual report with the Massachusetts
Secretary of State.
- Miscellaneous operations support including
receiving/routing all incoming mail, and providing
assistance to the CEO, as requested.
- Assist and partner with CEO to develop and evolve
long-term internal organizational strategy and
planning; serve as a sounding board and
provide counsel to CEO regarding a range of internally-focused

culture, continuous learning and
improvement, mentoring and coaching team
members as needed.
