Job Description Summary

This role will be appointed to conduct executive leadership responsibilities, including collaboration with Philanthropic Advisory Board Chairs and entity leadership, visioning and implementing volunteer engagement strategies, providing fundraising expertise, and providing administrative oversight for board activities while optimizing synergy and best practices across the boards.

Also serves as the leader in collaboration with fundraising staff for Allina Health in the community by creating, maintaining, and refining a volunteer fundraising engagement model to retain and recruit passionate and generous volunteers.

Under the leadership of the Director of Philanthropic Advisory Boards, the Philanthropic Advisory Board structure will be involved in philanthropic governance by serving on the Allina Health Philanthropy Committee providing insights, guidance and recommendations

 

Principle Responsibilities

  • Delivers an annual all member Philanthropic Advisory Board meeting to discuss the state of philanthropy for the organization; provide educational opportunities conducted by content experts focused on strategic priorities ; offer strategic guidance; and engage with executive leadership; receive recognition for your support and volunteerism; and celebrate collective successes.
    • Develops meaningful volunteer engagement opportunities resulting in high-impact volunteer experiences and more volunteers engaged.
    • Facilitates, in concert with the CDO, the relationship between councils, volunteers and the Allina Health Philanthropy Committee allowing the board and their members to provide insights, guidance and recommendations to Allina Health’s Philanthropy Committee.
    • Supports Philanthropic Advisory Board and unit leadership in the identification of Tier II priorities.
  • Serves as the Director of Philanthropic Advisory Board overseeing entity and affinity councils, leading and managing these critically important volunteer committees.
    • Defines and executes the Allina Health Philanthropic Advisory Board structure.
    • Creates and employs a single council charter and volunteer position descriptions.
    • Leads development officer, leadership and volunteer recruitment of dynamic community leaders willing to identify new prospects and solicit benefactors, executive leadership and professional fundraising staff with the goal of securing the philanthropic resources needed to advance Allina Health’s mission.
    • Works with CDO and other Philanthropy team members to engage, inform and equip council volunteers to fundraise effectively.
  • Serves as a member of the philanthropy leadership team.
    • Manages Philanthropic Advisory Board employees and holds them accountable for role responsibilities, competencies, individual performance and goal.
      • Supports the recruitment, interviewing, hiring and onboarding process.
      • Conducts ongoing coaching, assessment, training and education of staff.
      • Completes and conducts employee performance reviews.
      • Responsible for engagement of employees and contributing to annual Volunteer Board plan.
    • Collaborates in the development of annual fundraising projections and estimate of expenses for Philanthropic Advisory Board for inclusion in Office of Philanthropy budget.
    • Ensures alignment of Philanthropic Advisory Boards’ goals and objectives with the philanthropic goals as determined by the Allina Health Philanthropy Committee.
  • Distribution and granting of unrestricted funds.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, fundraising or related degree required or
  • Master's degree in business, fundraising or related degree preferred
  • 7+ years experience fundraising experience with a proven track record raising major and principal gifts required and
  • 7+ years experience with managing philanthropic operations, budgets and balance sheets of a complex nonprofit organization required and
  • 7+ years Supervisory or management experience required
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive preferred
