 JOB SUMMARY

The Development Officer is a key member of EngenderHealth’s philanthropy team who will build and steward a robust portfolio of major donors committed to sexual and reproductive health and rights. The Development Officer will plan and execute fundraising events, both virtually and (pending resumption of travel given COVID) in person. This data-driven fundraiser will provide detailed reporting on major donor activities and results while collaborating with colleagues to diversify the team portfolio and increase revenue.

The Development Officer will report to the Director of Philanthropy while working closely with the Manager of Annual Giving.

 Areas of primary responsibility include but not limited to:   

  • Major Donors: Collaborate with the President and CEO and the Director of Philanthropy in their outreach to a range of donors, while leading their own portfolio of prospects. Logistics and administration of cultivation events and major donor meetings are central to the role. Collaborate with the director to build a robust major giving program that includes planned giving, bequests, individual donors, etc.
  • Data: Collaborate closely with the director in areas such as team data management, data quality assurance, tracking of revenue trends, and analysis with a focus on major donors. Serve as a thought partner to the director in identifying and strategically analyzing data trends that can increase current revenue or generate new revenue pipelines.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead logistics and administration of donor stewardship and solicitation events: (virtual) visits, meetings, calls, letters, etc.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Director of Philanthropy in their work with major donors, and lead an increasingly diverse portfolio of prospects and donors
  • Serve as a team leader in data quality assurance, data monitoring, and analytics
  • Act as a thought partner to the director in all data-driven fundraising initiatives while identifying new major donor prospects from a variety of sources. Work with the Manager of Annual Giving on current annual donor data, directly cultivating those who have the capacity to make major gifts
  • Strengthen major gifts revenue channels such as planned giving, bequests, events, fundraising
  • Work with the Director of Philanthropy to engage key members of EngenderHealth leadership and staff to ensure successful participation in stewardship and cultivation activities
  • Participate in cross-department activities to increase understanding of program content for communication with donors and prospects
  • Other duties as assigned

 REQUIREMENTS

 Must possess the following requirements with or without reasonable accommodation:

  •  At least 2 years of previous data-driven philanthropy/fundraising management experience, or comparable demonstrated experience
  • A minimum of four years of experience in direct individual fundraising with an emphasis on major gifts, or a combination of equivalent experience
  • Advanced CRM user, experienced with spreadsheets, data-savvy
  • Must be creative, driven, and must truly value EngenderHealth’s mission for sexual and reproductive health and rights
  • Superior knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, especially managing donor and prospect portfolios
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to communicate with sensitivity, diplomacy, and tact
  • Must have the ability to occasionally work outside of normal business hours, including early mornings and evenings to accommodate those in other time zones, as well as the occasional donor cultivation event
