Job Type: Permanent - Full-time

Salary: Up to $100K depending on experience

Background

Compassion in World Farming International was founded in 1967 in England by Peter Roberts, a British farmer who became horrified by the development of intensive factory farming. Over 50 years ago, Peter decided to make a difference and take a stand against this farming system. In his lifetime, Peter saw the demise of veal crates and gestation crates in the UK, and in Europe achieved recognition that animals are sentient beings. Compassion in World Farming, Inc was incorporated in 2014 and received 501(c)(3) status in 2015. The USA is an important international office for Compassion, as part of our increasing global reach.

Objective of the role

This is an exciting time to join the Global Major Gifts team at Compassion in World Farming and contribute to delivering our mission to end factory farming. With growing awareness of the impact of factory farming not only on animal welfare, but on human health and the environment, now is a unique moment to be raising money for Compassion’s work and bringing new supporters on board. Annual income from major philanthropic partners has continued to grow over past years, and our global team has ambitious growth targets over the coming years.

This role will contribute by leading the growth of our US philanthropy program, including Major Gifts, Planned Giving and mid-level giving by building on the strong existing donor relationships and developing and implementing fundraising strategies that will support the global and US philanthropic growth goals. We are also in the development phase for our next CIWF global strategy 2023-25 which will require significant growth across all income streams and regions.

The role will also entail line management of the US-based major gifts team (currently one team member). You will personally lead the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of higher-level donors and prospects and the portfolio will consist of high value individual donors, trusts and foundations, institutional and corporate sources based in the USA.
