The programs and activities of the AACR foster the exchange of new knowledge among scientists and physicians in cancer research as well as in related sciences. The AACR publishes nine peer-reviewed scientific journals and an award-winning magazine for cancer patients and their loved ones; convenes topical scientific conferences and an annual meeting that draws more than 22,500 participants; offers educational workshops that train young investigators in a variety of scientific and clinical areas; funds research fellowships, career development awards, and research grants for both senior and junior investigators; raises public awareness of the progress in the biology, detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cancer; engages actively in advocacy for increased federal research funding and other national policies that accelerate progress against cancer; and interacts with regulatory agencies to support regulatory science and policy.
Summary:
The fundraising arm of the AACR, the AACR Foundation, seeks and energetic and detail-oriented Coordinator to support the special events team in a wide range of administrative and operational tasks related to peer-to-peer (P2P) fundraising programs, including AACR Runners for Research and DIY fundraisers (Fundraise Your Way). This individual will be responsible for various administrative tasks that are critical to the successful operation of the P2P program, including but not limited to: managing incoming inquiries, maintain up-to-date inventory records, shipping of event and/or team gear, and pulling and compiling reports as needed. They will support all members of the team to ensure the various P2P programs are running efficiently to increase fundraising, participation and support.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
•Manage Peer-to-Peer email inboxes and responds to customer
service inquiries via email, phone, and social media in an
efficient manner.
•Monitor AACR Runners for Research Facebook page.
•Oversee the mailing of all AACR Runners for Research team gear and
other Peer-to-Peer program giveaways as needed.
•Maintain up-to-date inventory records of promotional items and
team gear.
•Work closely with Endurance Program Manager on social calendar, as
well as promotional and marketing activities to create program
awareness.
•Assist with outreach and recruitment for various endurance events,
including (but not limited to) the Broad Street Run and
Philadelphia Marathon.
•Pull and compile reports.
•Assist with updates to DonorDrive pages for various
campaigns.
•Provide support and motivation to Peer-to-Peer fundraisers to help
reach goals.
•Work collaboratively with various teams, including but not limited
to: Operations, Communications, Marketing and Creative
Services.
•Communicate professionally, sensitively, and tactfully at all
times with internal and external contacts.
•Identify new recruitment and funding opportunities.
•Performs other related tasks as assigned.

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Demonstrate initiative and strong problem-solving skills.
•Superior attention to detail, project management skills, and
ability to work well under pressure.
•Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meet frequent
deadlines, and work unsupervised.
•Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Education and Training:
•Four-year college degree required.
Technical Competencies and Special Skills:
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word,
Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as various social media
platforms.
•Knowledge of online giving and peer-to-peer fundraising platforms
a plus.
•Current driver’s license is required.
