The Mount Vernon School , a visionary PK-12 school serving more than 1,200 students and located in metropolitan Atlanta, seeks to appoint the leadership position of Executive Director of Giving & Stewardship, effective Summer 2022. The Executive Director of Giving & Stewardship will report to the Head of School as a senior executive, overseeing the Philanthropy Department and partnering with various internal departments and external organizations.

Reporting to the Head of School, the Executive Director of Giving & Stewardship is an integral member of the School’s leadership team, leveraging Mount Vernon’s philanthropic community with an emphasis on donor relationships, solicitation activities, and cultivation of higher capacity prospects. The Executive Director of Giving & Stewardship establishes the processes, systems, and strategies for the Office of Philanthropy, including Director of Community Giving and Stewardship Officer. Specifically, the Executive Director oversees the major gift and annual fundraising plan while managing a pool of 150 donors and prospects on an annual basis. Beyond the Mount Vernon community, the Executive Director develops strong relationships with key local and national foundations to scale grant programs for capital and programmatic goals and priorities. A growth-minded, trained professional with superior writing, editing, and presentation skills, accompanied by a successful fundraising track record with the capacity to inspire and motivate others, are critical attributes for any successful candidate in this leadership role.

Over the course of the past decade, Mount Vernon has experienced exponential growth in enrollment, graduated students to top tier colleges and universities, revised its mission statement and created an IDEA statement, partnered with major corporations, transformed teaching and learning, received exceptional accreditation status, expanded athletic and arts programs, and served as a consulting agency for hundreds of schools and educators throughout the world. Carrying forward the entrepreneurial nature and innovative culture, the next Executive Director of Giving & Stewardship has an incredible opportunity to make a significant impact on the Office of Philanthropy and the broader Mount Vernon community.

Integral to mission, the Mount Vernon School community remains steadfast to advancing inclusion, diversity, equity, and action, creating and cultivating connections between all people, ideas, and sectors. As a leading visionary independent school in the country, Mount Vernon’s “blue ocean” brand of innovation has emerged over the last decade, impacting schools in the US and across the globe through MV Ventures, a research, strategy, and consulting division of the School. In addition, the School has established partnerships with Fortune 500 companies, non-profits, and civic environments to design a better world...together.
