Operations to join the Foundation Leadership team as the Vice President of Foundation Operations. This role provides visionary leadership for Operations team members and thoughtful oversight of the information systems that support the Development, Corporate & Foundation Relations, and Philanthropic Events and Stewardship & Donor Relations teams. This leader provides the overall direction for Foundation Operations, which includes research, gift processing and data management, as well as the technology and work processes to deliver the highest levels of success across the Foundation. The Vice President participates in the development and implementation of the Foundation's strategic plan. This role ensures effective management of human and financial resources and assists the Foundation President with the overall financial management of the Foundation’s budget. Role Responsibilities
DEPARTMENT LEADERSHIP: As a member of Foundation's Leadership team, participate in the
development and implementation of the Foundation's strategic plan. Establish and communicate a clear vision for department staff that is focused on donor (individual, corporation, foundation or organization) development, service and quality; and, is aligned with the Foundation's strategic plan and organizational objectives. Establish and implement short- and long-range goals and objectives, policies, processes and operating procedures. Is accountable to affect changes required for improved results.

OPERATIONS: Collaborate with Foundation Vice Presidents to understand the information and
support services needs of each team. Recommend and coordinate an integrated approach to the dissemination of fundraising materials to targeted audiences. Oversee day-to-day operations for the Foundation in areas such as facility management, safety, security, vendor accounts, and the space and equipment needs of staff.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS/TECHNOLOGY: Develop and implement strategies, policies and procedures to utilize information systems and technology effectively to ensure efficient operations and compliance with Foundation policies & procedures, and state & federal regulations. Assess staff training needs; develop and implement training programs for both newly hired and existing staff. Collaborate with other Vice Presidents to ensure each staff member appropriately and fully utilizes technology in support of Foundation Operations. Coordinates new system development and improvements to existing systems with Connecticut Children's IS department; serves as primary Foundation liaison for IS systems and on committees for ongoing analysis of system improvement.

DATABASE ADMINISTRATION: Oversee the efficient and cost-effective administration and use of the SalesForce database application and associated systems. In collaboration with other Foundation Vice Presidents, establish and monitor tracking systems in support of fundraising efforts of each department, program, event & activity. Oversee and ensure integrity of data; control security for user groups; system documentation and end-user manuals, and regular systems maintenance activities. As the expert SalesForce end-user, serve as primary resource to staff generating queries and reports, and anticipate the needs of SalesForce users. Serve as primary liaison to SalesForce.

GIFT MANAGEMENT: Administer, develop and document gift acknowledgment and allocation policies and procedures; develop and manage automated business processes; train Foundation staff on gift policies and processes to ensure that gifts are accurately processed; monitor and manage pledge receivables, and function as primary liaison with banks regarding stock gifts.

FISCAL MANAGEMENT: Participates with Foundation President and Vice Presidents in the
development and management of Foundation operating and capital budgets and fundraising
projections. Monitors and prepares reports, analyses and recommendations for Foundation
Leadership to evaluate operational effectiveness in meeting Foundation and department goals.
Serves as the primary liaison between the Foundation and Finance department.

REALIZED PLANNED GIFTS ADMINISTRATION: Serves as a liaison between the Foundation, attorneys, probate courts, trust administrators and the Connecticut Children's Finance Team to facilitate the accounting and receipt of planned gifts. Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with the Connecticut Children's standards.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides work direction to the database management and research team, the gift management team, and monitors Foundation administrative staff's projects relating to Salesforce, gift processing and operations.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Broad knowledge of fundraising and accounting principles, methods and techniques;
Deep familiarity of all aspects of financial management;
Organizational and departmental structure, workflow, and operations policies/procedures;
Budget preparation and fiscal management;
Basic knowledge of human resource policies and procedures;
Laws relating to 501(C)3 organizations.
Skills
Expert end-user knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating system; Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); and expert knowledge of fundraising database management (e.g. Salesforce); Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and work effectively with medical center leadership, prospects, donors and volunteers;
Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large group. Ability To Coordinate and integrate computer systems development, enhancement and modifications from an overall information services perspective;
Examine and re-engineer operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and
implementing new strategies and procedures; Make administrative and procedural decisions;
Analyze and solve complex problems; Organize resources and establish priorities;
Effectively manage employees through appropriate staffing, employee development and
performance management; Persuade and influence others. 

Bachelor’s Degree Required, Related Master’s Degree Preferred.
Database management, knowledge of Salesforce prospect management and gift processing tools preferred. Minimum 7 years’ experience in fundraising/development with at least 3 years’ experience in a  leadership role.
