Rider University invites applications for an Associate Director of Annual Giving.  The Associate Director will work with the Sr. Director of Development to meet the annual goal for the Annual Fund and will work collaboratively with the Development team to achieve Rider University’s overall fundraising goals. As a member of the Development Team, the Associate Director will work closely with the Sr. Director of Development to solicit, steward, and cultivate donors and will identify, cultivate, and solicit new individual prospects. The Associate Director will take a leadership role in the young alumni engagement and fundraising program, known as BOLD (Broncs of the Last Decade). The Associate Director will also manage all aspects of the University fundraising Phonathon program, ensuring that all pledge, credit card, and pledge fulfillment goals are met in accordance with divisional expectations, and will manage the outsourced Phonathon vendor relationship for the department. The Associate Director will also oversee student fundraising efforts. The Associate Director will work with the Sr. Director and Assistant Director to develop and implement annual giving strategies to meet various department goals and will draft appeals and direct mail pieces as needed. The Associate Director will also build and coordinate electronic communications, including, but not limited to, Net-Community, crowdfunding platform pages, and social media messaging, and will be responsible for building complex Raiser’s Edge queries.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or significant related Development experience)
  • 3-5 years of development (or related, transferable) experience
  • Must be a team player, and be capable of prioritizing own workload independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have exceptional attention to detail, interpersonal, communication, and time management skills, as well as strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills
  • Must have a willingness to work flexible hours including some evenings and occasional weekends (especially during the Phonathon calling campaign)
  • Demonstrated ability working with a diverse population
  • Must possess a command of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality and ethics
  • Must possess experience writing creative copy and have the ability to develop strategic fundraising copy that is in alignment with the University’s vision and key messages
  • Must have the ability to work independently while functioning as part of the University Advancement team
  • Must possess an understanding of information management as well as familiarity with relational databases, designing queries, and creating reports.
