Assistant Director of Development for Children’s Health       Job Summary
UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals seek an Assistant Director of Development to lead children’s health donor and pipeline development. This position has flexible, hybrid telework schedule.

Everything UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital staff do is for the kids, and our mission can be seen here: https://www.ucsfbenioffchildrens.org/about/our-mission. Our hospitals in San Francisco and Oakland are focused on providing the highest-quality care to all children in our communities and to advancing pediatric medicine. We welcome colleagues inspired by this mission.

The Assistant Director of Development focuses on raising unrestricted funds for the greatest needs of the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals. The ideal candidate enjoys collaborating with colleagues from a variety of disciplines. Our fundraising efforts thrive from developing and sustaining relationships with donors. Creativity, teamwork, and a positive attitude are a plus here!

The future incumbent is also adaptable with great attention to detail. Someone who will do well in this role has superior written and verbal communications skills as our fundraisers are constantly communicating with donors. Project management experience and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively would be well suited to this role.

More details about potential areas of contribution to our team’s success can be found below.

Driving Major Gifts Pipeline
This role drives the pipeline process by qualifying new major gifts prospects. You will work with donors through the full cycle of identification, qualification, solicitation, and stewardship. Your goal is to raise a minimum of $400,000 in your first year. You will identify and prioritize prospects for outreach in collaboration with Prospect Development and children’s health colleagues. This Assistant Director has ownership over their outreach strategies to support overall team fundraising goals.

Donor Stewardship
A key responsibility of any major gifts officer is to acknowledge and steward donors. How we interact with and thank our donors is essential to supporting the efforts of UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals. You will design targeted individual strategies to thank and engage our donors in meaningful ways.

Strategic Partnerships with Faculty and Staff
One of the greatest parts of this role is to serve as a partner for faculty and hospital staff on donor engagement and fundraising strategies. Our esteemed faculty rely on our fundraisers to guide them in donor engagement, and the appropriate UCSF policies and HIPPA Compliance. This role also collaborates with our Annual Giving colleagues. A successful incumbent will have the opportunity to analyze our key constituents and develop appropriate strategies for additional donor engagement.
The UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals Foundation comprises a team of dedicated individuals with a shared commitment to helping kids and families live healthier lives.

We do this by:
  • Fundraising for the advancement of pediatric care, research, and education
