ADL’s CEO and National Director, Jonathan Greenblatt—an accomplished leader and entrepreneur in the corporate, public, and nonprofit sectors—was recruited to the organization in July 2015. He has injected new energy and brought a bold vision to the agency. Under Jonathan’s leadership, ADL is transforming itself, upgrading its capabilities, leveraging innovation, building partnerships, and pioneering new horizons.



ADL is seeking a strategic, mission driven Vice President, Finance that will play a key leadership role in supporting the ongoing transformation and success of the organization.  Commencing with three direct reports, responsibilities for this individual will encompass revenue and grant accounting, payroll administration, employee retirement benefits management, and treasury management.

The VP serves as a business partner to the SVP and is a key member of the ADL Finance, Administration, and Information Technology team. They will provide strategic insights to near and long-term financial plans with the goal of furthering ADL’s mission. They will work with external constituencies including auditors, banks / bankers, investment firms and advisors, regulators, donors, and potential partner alliances.

The VP will support the ongoing transformation of the Finance, Administration, and Information Technology team, ensuring processes and policies are contemporary, effective, and compliant.



  • Serve as a key strategic business partner, thought leader, and resource to the SVP, ADL’s executive team, and the Board of Directors (for the Agency and the Foundation). Help shape the direction and enhance the performance of both the department and the agency.
  • Provide adequate, accurate and timely data and analysis for operational and strategic decision making and leadership.
  • Develop and maintain financial planning processes to ensure that the short and long-term financial plans are aligned with the goals of ADL. This includes collaborating on and contributing to financial models and annual operating budgets that provide guidance and accountability for ADL’s growth.
  • Work collaboratively with ADL’s outsourced accounting services provider.
  • Assure that all fiscal activity, regardless of source, meets regulatory reporting and compliance standards and requirements.
  • Ensure an environment of unquestionable integrity in financial internal controls.
  • Be a valued resource to the information technology team concerning the adequacy of existing financial systems and other integrated functionality.



  • Breadth of Financial Expertise: Broad finance background with strength in accounting, audit, budget, treasury, compliance, contract management, and risk management. Understanding of nonprofit accounting and other compliance requirements preferred but not required.
  • Organizational Management: 10+ years of relevant financial management experience, preferably with progressive experience within a distributed organization managing day-to-day financial operations.
  • Team Leadership: Strong leadership, supervisory, and management skills, and demonstrated ability to coach and motivate teams.
  • Strategy, Building, & Transformation: Demonstrated track record of partnering with senior leaders to strategize within an organization, improving business practices, streamlining workflow, increasing automation, implementing and improving organization-wide systems and processes, improving control functions, and reducing costs in an environment in transition.
  • Collaborative, Team First Mentality: Collaborative leader who recognizes the power of the team in maximizing organizational effectiveness. Astute and diplomatic negotiator who can find common ground among diverse constituents. Sees all team members as assets.
  • Proactive Business Partner: Seeks opportunities to drive the organization forward and finds ways to contribute vs. waiting to be asked; a leader who has a propensity to take action instead of waiting for a direct mandate; action-oriented and results-oriented.
  • Mission Orientation: Evidence of commitment, whether through personal or professional activities, to working within a mission-based organization; energized by ADL's work and mission.


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related discipline, or equivalent experience required.
  • MBA and/or CPA preferred.
