Equality Now elevates women’s rights and gender equality as an essential part of international human rights. When we started 30 years ago, domestic violence was an acceptable part of life, sex trafficking was not named as a matter of international concern, female genital mutilation and child marriage were just cultural practices and rape was merely a by-product of war, but not a war crime. Since then, there has been a sea change in the recognition of women’s rights and equality that we have contributed to, but our work is far from done.

We are now beginning the search for our next Global Executive Director (GED). As the leader of a strong, high-performing team, the GED will steer Equality Now through the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly changing world, leading on the delivery of our new organizational strategy.

The time is ripe for a new leader to come bring their ideas, their passion and their whole selves to this critical organization. We are seeking a visionary, creative, generous, humble and passionate individual who will lead and live the organizational culture. They must also be an active listener, critical thinker and problem solver. The successful candidate will bring at least 10 years’ experience in a senior leadership position, with a track record of leading organizational growth, as well as meaningful engagement with causes and movements. An outstanding communicator, they will have the presence, credibility and skills to develop and sustain a broad range of relationships, and experience working with diverse communities.

We are open to the right candidate being based anywhere in the world, but have a preference for our GED to be based in New York City or Washington DC, USA. Other global locations will be considered. The salary for this role, if based in either of the preferred locations, will be c. $230,000 to $280,000 dependent on level of experience.
