REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL - UNICEF USA GLOBAL CAUSE PARTNERSHIPS
PURPOSE
UNICEF USA (UUSA) Global Cause Partnerships (GCP) has initiated a Request for Proposal (RFP) process to advance its Diaspora and Multicultural Partnership strategy, led by its Global Cause Partnerships team. The consultant would leverage their knowledge of key target diasporas and connections to their communities to support UUSA efforts to engage, partner with and generate philanthropic support for UNICEF programming among these US-based groups.
SCOPE OF WORK
UUSA seeks further knowledge of and connections to our top US-based diaspora and multicultural groups that have capacity to fund UUSA, demonstrate programmatic alignment and where engagement efforts have not been explored or have been unsuccessful. The consultant would:
- Review internal research, including a recent landscape analysis on diaspora philanthropy post-2020 that identified UUSA’s target diaspora communities, to offer additional strategic recommendations from their level of expertise and community knowledge. This also includes providing insight on engagement approach and facilitating introductions.
- Review a shortlist of institutional prospects representing target diasporas and multicultural groups with strategy recommendations for cultivation and engagement prioritization from a personal knowledge of diaspora communities.
- Provide a report that:
- offers detailed recommendations to enhance current strategy to engage with, fundraise among and partner with organizations representing Eastern European (Armenian, Ukranian), Arab (Lebanese, Syrian and Palestinian), South Asian (Indian), African American, Caribbean (Haitian and Jamaican), African (Ethiopian, Kenyan, Somali) and Hispanic diasporas
- includes key groups, contacts and connectors along with key annual events (i.e. holidays, cultural events, etc.) for each target diaspora to help grow UNICEF influence within these communities
- includes recommendations for developing a strategy for identifying potential thought partners among identified diaspora groups
- recommends resources such as online platforms, podcasts, news media and subscriptions for growing knowledge and engagement of diaspora and multicultural groups in the US
- Participate in regular meetings to report on, receive feedback, and strategize with GCP fundraising team and Prospect Intelligence team
REQUIREMENTS
We are seeking a consultant with the following qualifications and expertise:
- Significant knowledge of the diaspora philanthropy landscape, high multicultural competence and proficiency in navigating the complexities of diaspora philanthropy
- Familiarity with institutional fundraising and strategy development
- Knowledge of humanitarian programs with global impact
- Deep, expansive knowledge of and connection to organizations representing preidentified diaspora and multicultural groups with philanthropic communities in the US
- Ability to commit to completion of project in three months
REQUIREMENTS
Our budget for the part-time consultant is up to $20,000. RFPs are due by Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
