Senior Vice President/Chief Development Officer

We are looking for a Senior Vice President/Chief Development Officer to provide visionary, strategic and operational leadership for philanthropic initiatives in support of South Shore Health. Duties include:

• Supporting South Shore Health’s mission, values, business strategy and operations, ensuring philanthropic plans and goals align with organizational priorities
• Gaining consensus and creating compelling philanthropic cases for local and system-wide support while aligning with institutional vision strategy and goals
• Working with South Shore Health Board and executive leadership to identify funding needs to implement short-and long-range development strategies
• Building the skills, knowledge and abilities of the professional and support staff in the areas of principal and major gifts, events, volunteer development, annual giving, corporate partnerships, affinity groups, partnerships and stewardship and delegate functions where appropriate
• Acting as a critical member of the Senior Leadership Team by helping to drive strategy and commitment to excellence in clinical programs, patient experience, colleague well-being and financial strength
• Partnering with Senior Leaders as well as clinicians in communicating our value to our community as well as the critical role of fundraising in support of our mission and commitment to community wellness
• Working in concert with Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer and the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications to be sure that marketing strategy, message and plans align with those of the Foundation
• Assuring effective planning processes are established for strategy development, goal setting, reporting, metrics and evaluation of results
• Assuming responsibility for Foundation special event fundraising, hosting a wide range of events in the community to raise funds in support of programs and initiatives while fostering new supporters

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• 12 years of comprehensive fundraising management and leadership experience, preferably in a complex healthcare system
• Extensive experience successfully soliciting and managing major and principal gifts
• Major campaign experience, including planning and implementation
• Experience in building, mentoring and motivating a team in a complex organization with demonstrated skill in developing strong, collaborative teams
• Formal fundraising certification such as CFRE or FAHP preferred
• Strong financial and operational management skills, including major individual gifts, foundations, corporations, special events, planned giving and grateful patients
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to ask for and receive significant gifts and deliver on fundraising campaigns
• Strong strategic planning skills with a track record of successful solicitations
• Understanding of the value of technology, social media and the ability to address issues of costs, benefit/risk analysis
• Ability to thrive and quickly adapt to change
• Willingness to challenge standard thinking with new ideas, approaches and solutions
• Accountability and responsibility for own actions with the utmost integrity
• Ability to quickly praise others for excellence
