Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Advancement Services, Stewardship, and Planned Giving, the Associate Director of Advancement Services will provide leadership, supervision, and operational expertise related to gift processing, donor acknowledgement and stewardship, reporting, data integrity, data analytics, data security, and other tools and processes necessary to support University Advancement's objectives with fundraising and constituency engagement. The incumbent will enhance development operations to assure best practices and high standards of quality, efficiency, accuracy, transparency, security, and confidentiality around the handling of donor information, reporting, acknowledgments, and procedures related to all major, capital, comprehensive, and annual fundraising campaigns.

FLSA: Exempt

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,583 - $13,750 per month

Hiring Range: $4,583 - $9,150 per month, commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

Time Base: Full-Time

Pay Plan: 12 months

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Hours often vary depending on need.

Department Information

Advancement Services and Stewardship is instrumental to Sacramento State's ability to achieve its outreach, fundraising, event, and stewardship goals. We manage information to better support engagement and fundraising efforts with alumni, faculty and staff, friends, and the community. Our team manages, analyzes, and leverages the data needed to inform organizational strategy through prospect research and management. We are responsible for processing, recording, and acknowledging all philanthropic gifts and for thanking and celebrating the commitments that donors make to Sacramento State.

Required Qualifications
1. Five or more years of progressive experience in Advancement Services or database management/administration in a university or non-profit organization environment. 2. Three or more years of direct supervisory experience in Advancement Services and forward-thinking leadership skills that can balance diverse agendas and points of view in a dynamic, outcomes-based, and enterprising environment. 3. Prior experience with Ellucian Advance (Web or CRM) or other relational database software. 4. Experience with specific technologies and best practices in data integration, query design, data validation/automation, analytic functions, electronic data warehouses, and ETL (extract, transform, load). 5. Thorough knowledge of non-profit accounting procedures and financial reporting requirements, CASE Reporting Standards, applicable tax laws, and other governing policies and procedures related to the processing of a wide array of charitable gifts. 6. Knowledge of Advancement industry best practices and reporting standards; strong understanding of the business goals of University Advancement to design smart and supportable data structures for facilitating business and measuring program effectiveness. 7. Excellent research, analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills that demonstrate a range of other competencies such as logic, creativity, resilience, imagination, lateral thinking, and determination; ability to compile and interpret data and prepare reports and correspondence. 8. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build, maintain, and optimize relationships with internal partners, including cross-campus partners in Informational Resources & Technology (IRT), Financial Services, Institutional Research, and the Registrar's and Bursar's Offices, as well as external stakeholders, such as volunteers, donors, and software vendors. 9. Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work with a large volume of data under time constraints, prioritize simultaneous requests, and meet deadlines. 10. Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exhibit good judgment in making independent decisions consistent with the University's mission and values. 11. Working knowledge of the fundraising process and the concept of donor relations. 12. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. 13. Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. 14. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook. Preferred Qualifications
15. Experience managing third-party interfaces such as Blackbaud Fundraiser Performance Management, Blackbaud Engage, and Anthology (formerly iModules). 16. Experience building custom reports using tools such as SQL, Crystal reports, Cognos, Brio, Tableau, and other query and reporting tools. 17. Previous experience assessing, selecting, and implementing a new CRM. 18. Advancement Services management experience preparing for and supporting a comprehensive or capital campaign.
