About the Role

REMOTE / West Coast Preferred

She the People is seeking an experienced fundraising and development professional with a passion for leading diversified donor strategies and major gift solicitation. You are committed to elevating, amplifying and activating the power of women of color in our nation, and will work in close partnership with the Founder & President to cultivate and connect donors with She the People’s vision and values. You have experience developing and fine tuning an organization’s donor cultivation cycle and an interest in engaging individual, corporate, and foundation donors. You operate both on a strategic and tactical level and no task is too small or too large to tackle. You are organized, detail-oriented, and a relationship builder. The Development Director will report to the Chief of Staff and will manage project-based consultants, vendors, and contractors as needed.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategy & Management (15%)

    Create and lead the annual fundraising plan and multi-year development strategy for both the 501(c)3 and 501(c)4 to grow revenue and meet fundraising goals year over year Collaborate with the President & CEO, Chief of Staff, and the organizations’ fiscal sponsor to implement fundraising plan   Advise Chief of Staff on how to best leverage relationships and time of the President & CEO to cultivate current and prospective donors  Collaborate with the Chief of Staff and fiscal sponsor to inform the budget process and support tracking revenue Manage staff and project-based consultants as needed to meet fundraising goals, such as a grant writer and event planner Build and implement the organization’s donor database and tracking system Support the Communications Director to manage vendor(s) for the CRM and donor database

Corporate & Foundation Donors (50%)

    Work closely with President & CEO to identify and cultivate prospective corporate and foundation donors Support President & CEO to meet with and pitch corporate and foundation donors  Develop and manage grant application process and calendar to ensure deadlines and requirements are met   Review grant proposal content to confirm it meets the organizations’ standards and aligns with the vision and mission  Work closely with the Chief of Staff and senior staff on the grant management process to ensure all grant reporting requirements are met 

Individual & Major Gift Donors (25%)

    Work with senior staff to develop and manage the organizations’ individual donor program, including online giving, small-dollar donors, annual donors, and major gift donors  Identify potential major gift donors and lead cultivation cycle to ensure donors are connected to and remain engaged with the mission and vision  Support President & CEO to meet with and pitch major gift donors

Communications & Donor Database Management (10%)

    Collaborate with the Communications Director & Program & Political Director to ensure the CRM functions efficiently and effectively to track and manage donor information and communications   Collaborate with the Communications Director and Program & Political Director to generate content connecting donors with the mission  Support the Communications Director to develop content for fundraising emails and other development communications  

 

Requirements and Qualifications
    Commitment to She the People’s values of love, justice, and belonging and a mission to build the power of women of color to achieve racial justice and gender justice 4-8 years relevant fundraising experience, which can include grant writing/management, donor solicitation & cultivation, online fundraising, corporate and major gift solicitation, and CRM/donor database management Understanding and experience fundraising within the limits of both a 501(c)3 and 501(c)4 nonprofit organization Outstanding judgment, discretion and decision-making skills Ability to communicate effectively with partners, elected officials, and candidates Results-focused with impeccable follow-through Strong organizational, project management, time management, and planning skills, with a demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive projects forward independently Ability and willingness to travel (<20%) for events and in-person team collaborations

Salary Range: $75-95k (Manager) 95-115K (Director)
