Overall purpose: Drives Union Theological Seminary corporate and institutional relations program to increase mission-aligned corporate and institutional investment and build key partnerships to support strategic priorities, including annual and multi-year giving, sponsorship, program enrollment, volunteerism, stewardship and appropriate in-kind donations. Under the management of the Vice President of Development, the Associate Director of Corporate and Institutional Engagement is responsible for managing all strategies and activities for corporate and institutional engagement, cultivation and solicitation. This is a 3-year grant. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement strategic and operational plans for mission-aligned corporate and institutional major gifts, sponsored employee enrollment, annual support, and event sponsorships and strategic partnerships to achieve annual fundraising goals
  • Identify and create new partnerships with mission-aligned companies and other nonprofit institutions and foundations at all levels of the organization, including staff (campaign coordinators and volunteer program managers as well as community affairs corporate social responsibility, strategic marketing, and talent and development staff), leadership donors, and executive management.
  • Analyze giving trends and identify opportunities for increased fundraising from portfolio companies.
  • Manage a portfolio of corporations and institutions and build a pipeline for additional supporters
  • Maximize existing corporate and institutional relationships and trustee relationships to become multi-year financial contracts at top giving tiers
  • Direct process of identification, evaluation, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporate and institutional prospects and donors
  • Steward current and prospective corporate and institutional donors through relationship-building activities and networking events as appropriate
  • Identify foundation funding opportunities through proposal prospecting and grant writing; Work closely with corporations, family foundations and individuals to research, identify, and secure grant funds in support of the annual fund.
  • Develop mutually beneficial and revenue-generating partnership and sponsorship opportunities with mission-aligned companies and institutions by linking Union Theological Seminary’s mission with a company or institution’s marketing and philanthropic objectives
  • Develop compelling sponsorship proposals (including existing and new special events, conferences, and Union programs), detailing benefits, recognition, and activation packages; execute agreements, ensure proper fulfillment, and provide overall event management as appropriate
  • Identify and develop sector-specific campaigns and initiatives to engage New York City’s business, nonprofit, and philanthropic communities (large, medium, and small)
  • Develop a deep understanding of and strategy around venture philanthropy, impact investing, corporate social responsibility, and corporate and institutional support for training/continuing education and employer-provided tuition benefits
Experience and Qualifications
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Union Theological Seminary
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, sales or entrepreneurial start-up strongly preferred
  • Proven track record in managing/growing a portfolio for a major non-profit or corporate sector preferred
  • Ability to persuasively articulate values, stories, and facts to multiple audiences, including group presentations; excellent written communication skills
  • Commitment to working in a collaborative team environment, yet able to remain self-motivated and self-directed
  • Creativity and willingness to experiment with new ideas
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Knowledge and familiarity with techniques and tools for prospect research, Microsoft Office Suite, LinkedIn, Blackbaud, Foundation Center and appropriate web-based applications and services
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Salary – $90,000 / annually
