University Advancement (UA) supports the entire CMU community in building relationships with key constituencies and securing the financial resources the university needs to continue its ascent. As the division grows, we are seeking an associate director, Annual Giving (Data Analysis and Operations). This is an exciting opportunity if you thrive in an interesting and challenging work environment. Reporting to the executive director, Annual Giving, you will be responsible for analyzing fundraising data to drive an institution-wide annual giving strategy using best practices in data segmentation, testing and reporting. Collaboration across internal teams will be essential to create efficiencies in data extraction and reporting.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzing fundraising data to drive an institution-wide annual giving strategy using best practices in data segmentation, testing and reporting. Collaborate with colleagues at all levels to achieve results, build partnerships and create efficiencies across the team as well as the division, supporting recommendations with data.
  • Working closely with the staff across the Office of Annual Giving focusing on providing analysis for key metrics, recommending target segments, and reporting on results from A/B testing, technology adoption, data reviews and university-wide initiatives such as Telefund, Giving Tuesday, and Reunion.
  • Tracking and reporting progress on the implementation plan using key metrics; suggest additional metrics to track and recommend changes to the plan based on analysis. Prepare regular fundraising reports for internal stakeholders as well as ad hoc reports for leadership. Automate the reporting when possible.
  • Keeping current on programs, faculty, research, and student initiatives at the university. Network with advancement colleagues, college liaisons, and staff, administrators and faculty across the university when necessary. Network externally to understand best practices within the wider field.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You should be able to domestically and be willing to work outside of normal business hours as needed.

Qualifications 

  • A bachelor’s degree is required
  • Three to five years of experience, preferably within a university/non-profit setting. One year of managerial experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong data analysis skills. Knowledge of statistics package(s) is preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Previous CRM experience is preferred

 

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and successfully complete a driver's license verification on an annual basis. Must complete the National Safety Council Defensive Driver Training once every three years
