The race is on to limit global warming to 1.5°C and prevent the worst effects of climate change. Can you help us step up the pace?

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) drives ambitious climate action in the private sector by enabling the world’s biggest and most impactful companies to set science based emissions reduction targets.

As a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and one of the We Mean Business Coalition commitments, the SBTi is one of the world’s most respected climate initiatives. And we’re in an exciting period of exponential growth, thanks to US$37 million scale-up funding from IKEA Foundation, Bezos Earth Fund and Laudes Foundation.

We’re strengthening our Executive Leadership Team to support this growth and maximise our impact, and are looking for two skilled and collaborative leaders:

  • Chief Impact Officer: reporting to the CEO, the Chief Impact Officer will manage strategic partnerships, campaigns and corporate and financial sector recruitment to the SBTi platform in support of our mission. This position oversees the development and implementation of the SBTi’s strategy to mainstream the adoption of science-based targets and maximize our climate impact through engagement activities, corporate relations, strategic partnerships, policy, advocacy and other initiatives to ensure targets are translated into emission reductions, and the incorporation of SBTs in the wider climate action ecosystem.
  • Compliance Director: reporting to the CEO, the Compliance Director will support the consolidation of SBTi systems and processes, guaranteeing we are adhering to best practices and following internal policies, and ultimately consolidating our position as the most credible standard-setter for corporate climate action.

The science is clear – we must urgently work towards preventing the devastating effects of climate change. By increasing corporate ambition, the SBTi mobilizes the private sector to take the lead in climate action.

If you would like to join our mission, and bring the right skills and experience for either of these roles, please read more by downloading the appointment details at https://candidates.perrettlaver.com/vacancies/ quoting:

  • Reference 5894 for Compliance Director

The deadline for applications is 12 noon EDT on Tuesday, 14th June 2022.

These are full-time roles. The salary for these roles will be the local market equivalent of $100,000 - $150,000 USD dependent on level of experience. These roles are fixed-term 12 - 24 month renewable contracts and will be reporting to the CEO.

The location for both roles is flexible; although there is a preference for the CIO to be based in the Americas or Africa/Europe time zones. Candidates will likely be employed directly by SBTi’s partner organization, WWF. Interested candidates should indicate location preference and be legally allowed to work in the countries specified. The SBTi cannot sponsor any working visas.

What we offer:

  • Working in one of the most successful and fastest-growing initiatives driving climate action;
  • Exciting and challenging tasks in a dynamic, international, innovative, and highly motivated team;
  • Training and development;
  • Attractive holiday package.

SBTi is an equal opportunity employer – committed to building an inclusive workplace and diverse staff, where all can thrive. We welcome and strongly encourage applications from candidates of all identities and backgrounds, and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or age.
