Welcome.US inspires and empowers people from across divides to unite in common purpose, welcome newcomers, meet their essential needs, and help them thrive. Since our founding in the fall of 2021, Welcome.US has helped to build the largest welcoming coalition in refugee resettlement history. We began by welcoming our Afghan allies and have now expanded our efforts to welcome our new Ukrainian neighbors as well. 

In partnership with local and national resettlement agencies, Afghan American and Ukrainian American organizations and leaders, refugees, community sponsorship groups, nonprofits, businesses, faith-based groups, veterans, universities, four former Presidents, and four former First Ladies, Welcome.US is the single point of entry for Americans who want to get involved and support those who are starting new lives in the United States.  


Welcome.US is growing its Development and Partnerships team, sitting under the Chief Development and Partnerships Officer (CDO). This team is responsible for strategic planning, fundraising, as well as cultivation and day-to-day management of donor and private sector partnerships in alignment with the top priorities of Welcome.US. We seek dynamic individuals from a diversity of backgrounds to manage and support the execution of our private sector collaborations and partnerships.


The Director of Corporate Partnerships will lead the cultivation and end-to-end execution of corporate partnerships, under the direction and strategic leadership of the CDO. 

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in frontline fundraising for nonprofits, corporate partnership development, and creative problem solving through collaboration. They will have the ability to work effectively with and advise internal and external stakeholders at all levels, and experience managing remote teams. They should be able to respond enthusiastically and positively to ambiguity, prioritize quickly and confidently, and be resilient to shifting priorities and setbacks. 

Corporate Partner Engagement (~60%)

Lead the execution of high-impact national and local partnerships with the private sector to achieve Welcome.US’s programmatic and fundraising goals. Work with the CDO to achieve Welcome.US’s corporate partnership-related strategic goals, including strategizing on prospective partner outreach and managing partner engagement. Provide thought leadership in co-designing bespoke and highly sophisticated private sector engagements with Welcome.US to achieve mutual goals while fostering deep and lasting relationships. Craft correspondence and collateral materials to facilitate corporate partnerships through a collaborative and iterative process with other team members. Provide content to internal stakeholders for communications, grant writing, reporting, and other purposes.  Ensure partnerships are executed according to contracts and agreements and on deadline, including delivery of communication and visibility requirements, donor reporting, etc.  Drive effective coordination and collaboration across the Development and Partnerships team and the entire Welcome.US staff to support corporate partnerships. Work with the Welcome.US Content and Communications team to ensure that all corporate partners are appropriately recognized on the Welcome.US website and in other materials. Management and Supervision (~40%)

Supervise and lead a remote team of at least three corporate partnerships staff members, overseeing the performance and development of direct and indirect reports. Manage consultants as needed.   Help to identify staffing needs and participate in hiring to expand team capacity as required.  Contribute effectively to the work of others on the team and participate in full-team problem solving. Coordinate the work of various ad hoc cross-departmental teams to ensure optimal effectiveness and efficiency. Promote a positive, collaborative, and efficient working environment where team members enjoy working together, deliver impact, and grow professionally over time, including through regular feedback. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following skills, experience, and characteristics:

Required Skills and Experience

Minimum seven years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and/or corporate social impact initiatives, with a focus on building and navigating complex partnerships with large, high-profile corporations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including through email communications, written narratives, proposal development, meeting facilitation, and presentations. Minimum five years of management and supervision experience, demonstrating strong management skills, a respectful and supportive leadership style, the ability to motivate and develop direct reports and to build collaborative relationships. Demonstrated experience in effectively managing and supervising staff and projects in multiple locations, with a remote supervisor and direct reports. Ability to independently plan, prioritize, and manage projects, take ownership of high-quality and timely delivery, and quickly surface and resolve roadblocks as they arise. Experience working effectively with and advising internal and external stakeholders at all levels. Excellent problem-solving skills and a solution-oriented approach to work. Willingness to bring ideas, openness to feedback from colleagues, and flexibility to iterate. A “no task too small” mentality to achieve results in a small team. Ability to respond enthusiastically and positively to ambiguity. A growth mindset, taking responsibility for continuous performance improvement. Ability and willingness to travel as needed to meet stakeholders, represent the organization, and gather with teammates. (We recognize that Covid-19 may continue to limit travel in the short term.) Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or commensurate experience. Desired Skills and Experience
