Apex for Youth delivers possibilities to underserved Asian and immigrant youth from low-income families in NYC. We recruit working professionals to volunteer and become positive role models who inspire youth to expand their horizons and envision what is possible for their lives. Through mentoring, educational, mental health, and social justice programs that serve students from pre-K to 12th grade, Apex staff and volunteers guide and support youth to become confident, be ready for college and give back to the community.

 

JOB OVERVIEW

Over the last 10 years, Apex has grown exponentially, and is currently experiencing its most significant growth period to date. During this current fiscal year, we are doubling our team of full time staff to 30, investing more resources into our staff’s professional development, growing our programs and partnerships, and serving our highest number of youth at 1500.

The Corporate Partnerships Manager is a full-time position and is responsible for overseeing, developing, and implementing Apex for Youth’s campaigns and strategies around corporate and foundation partnerships. The Corporate Partnerships Manager will work with the Executive Director, Development Director, Programs Director, and Board to develop a comprehensive and strategic plan to build on existing relationships with corporate institutions and foundations, to grow and deepen funding and volunteer pipelines. The Manager will be the primary point of contact for corporate partners and will cultivate a comprehensive strategy around corporate philanthropy, including annual funding, participation in Apex events, volunteer opportunities, and speaking engagements for Apex team members.

The ideal candidate will have experience in building and stewarding relationships with corporate partners and institutional philanthropy in a nonprofit setting. They will be a self-starter, great communicator, detail-oriented, extremely organized, possess a strong work ethic, and have a proven track record of meeting goals and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a highly collaborative environment. The Corporate Partnerships Manager reports to the Director of Development and works closely with the Executive Director, development, and program teams. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Collaborate with the Development team to sustain and expand corporate support in the context of an organizational strategy around funding, sponsorships, partnerships and volunteer engagement.

- Respond to inquiries from corporate prospects and engage institutions through a stewardship process. Create pitches and write proposals for new and existing corporate partners. Lead pitch meetings with new and existing corporate prospects.

- Collaborate with program teams, and use knowledge of program operations and needs to design and implement compelling corporate volunteering programs and funding opportunities. Serve as lead on volunteer recruitment efforts with corporate partners and support initial outreach and cultivation processes. Act as the hub of information for general volunteering inquiries and educate the corporate community around volunteer options.

- Serve as the primary liaison for corporate inquiries and communications. Develop materials to market and promote Apex’s corporate engagement opportunities and ensure proper and timely recognition of corporate and foundation partners in marketing materials.

- Develop and manage a robust portfolio of corporate and foundation relationships. Cultivate and manage corporate and foundation relationships and collaborations throughout the year. Build mutually beneficial and enduring relationships with partners involving ongoing communication, reporting, event and volunteer opportunities.

- Serve as a key member of the development team and regularly report on foundation and corporate relationships, funding and engagement metrics. 

 

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

-3+ years of effective fundraising, sales, and/or account management experience.

-Strong writing, presentation and communication skills, with high attention to detail.

-Track record of meeting deadlines and successfully managing concurrent projects.

-Excellent task, time, and project management skills; ability to set goals and objectives, and use tools to update projections regularly.

-A genuine passion for and commitment to Apex's mission; a strong storyteller with ability to creatively and effectively share organization’s work with stakeholders.

Nice to have:

-Knowledge of the NY nonprofit, philanthropic, and Asian American community as well as the broader national network.

-Demonstrated success in developing and stewarding relationships with philanthropic and corporate institutional donors, as well as individuals, or comparable experience.

-Experience in corporate sponsorship or partnership sales in a nonprofit is a plus.

-Ability to be proactive, not reactive, and to think strategically across multiple, concurrent projects.

-Positive “can do” attitude, flexible, team-oriented, results-driven, and shows initiative.

-The ability and willingness to attend evening and weekend events, and to travel, on an occasional basis.

-Salesforce and Google Workspace experience.

Paid Time Off: In the first year of employment, employees are eligible for 10 vacation days and 12 paid federal holidays observed by Apex for Youth. Additionally, Apex closes for one week over the winter holidays and one week during the Fourth of July. Employees are also entitled to 5 sick days per year and 3 personal days a year. Additional vacation days accrue according to years worked in the organization.

Salary range: The salary range for this position is $62,000 - $77,000, depending on experience.
