Job Description

Under general direction, coordinates work of teams to develop Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) specific proposal ideas, resources, timelines, assignments and researches funding sources to design and prepare grants, proposals and associated budgets in accordance with grant/sponsor standards and requirements. Works closely and in conjunction with deans, researchers, and faculty to identify and prioritize grant and proposal opportunities in support of strategic initiatives, objectives and goals.

 

Work schedule is dependent on the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant submission schedule. Hours will vary and be highest near proposal deadlines.

 

Salary Range

$21.91 - $32.62 per hour; DOE

Essential Duties

  • Researches, carefully reviews, and interprets requests for new HRSA proposals and funding guidelines from government agencies and foundations to determine appropriate and optimal response format.
  • Disseminates information on funding opportunities to relevant faculty and staff partners toengage the response team for relevant HRSA opportunities.
  • Develops proposals by closely working with faculty team lead and college research advancement team to interpret sponsoring agency guidelines and ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Coordinates teams responsible for writing and developing grant proposals to ensure timelines and standards are met.
  • Consults with faculty and staff to provide technical advice in the area of proposal presentation and dissemination of information that can be used in the grant proposal revision process.
  • Customizes proposal layouts to reflect both guidelines and mission of funding agency towhich the grant proposal will be submitted.
  • Creates and produces graphics and charts that support the grant narrative.
  • Consolidates, writes, edits, or rewrites proposal with input from project team.
  • As part of the grant development and submission process, prepares special reports, formsor studies to support grant development and/or responses to sponsor inquiries.
  • Establishes and maintains close liaisons with community organizations, state and federal government agencies, professional organizations involved with development of projectsand proposals.
  • As part of the process, develops college/institute boilerplate template that outlines timelines, staffing, and budgets for HRSA grant proposals according to typical HRSA funding guidelines.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Journalism, Communications or closely related field appropriate to area of assignment AND five (5) years of experience in technical or grant writing, editing or publishing; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in writing and/or administering HRSA-funded projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of program evaluation and/or research methods, and grant/contract development or administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary writing styles used in preparation of grants/proposals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management, budgeting and forecasting principles,practices and methods.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting a variety of complex documents.
  • Experience in critical thinking and problem solving related to developing integrated solutions.
  • Experience in developing and nurturing cooperative relationships with varying stakeholders.
  • Experience in designing resource tools, materials and presentations for writing proposals.
  • Experience in database management applications.
  • Knowledge of leadership practice and principles.
  • Experience in prioritizing and organizing.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, interpret and apply government regulations and proposal guidelines.
  • Experience in working both independently and as part of a team exercising a high degree of initiative.
  • Experience in performing a variety of basic statistical calculations.
  • Experience in utilizing effective communication, problem solving and listening skills to positively influence a variety of audiences and efficiently identify issues, concerns and interests and provide effective solutions.
  • Experience in managing and prioritizing multiple concurrent projects effectively to meet office and proposal deadlines.
  • Experience in working effectively and cooperatively with an ethnically and culturally diverse population.
