This is a hybrid telework/in-office position located in Arlington, VA.

The Organization for Autism Research (OAR) is seeking a Manager for its national employment program, Hire Autism. The job requires a results-driven person with a passion for the mission and the willingness to promote the program to and interact with stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds to help autistic adults find meaningful employment.

Hire Autism is founded on the core belief that autistic people are capable of working in a variety of jobs. It is built around an online job board,, expressly designed for ease of access and use by autistic job seekers and employers alike. Through the website, job seekers can find and apply for jobs with autism-friendly employers, access resources, search for autism/disability-related events, and request one-on-one assistance virtually through the Hire Autism Navigator program.  Employers can access resources, post jobs, search for and connect with autistic talent, and advertise upcoming hiring or recruiting events.

The Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Hire Autism program, including but not limited to strategic planning, staff management, volunteer recruitment and management, social media, outreach, marketing/advertising, and training development. Working closely with OAR leadership, the Hire Autism Associate, volunteers, community partners, employers, and sponsors, the Manager will develop and implement a multi-faceted approach to supporting current job seekers and employer partners as well as identify opportunities for future growth and expansion. The Manager, Hire Autism will report to OAR’s Executive Director.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Create and execute Hire Autism’s strategic plan and meet annual goals for users registered, job seekers supported, hires, and volunteers
  • Develop and grow relationships with prospective employers, current employer partners, volunteers, external organizations, and job seekers
  • Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of Hire Autism Associate and interns
  • Develop partnerships and referrals systems to connect job seekers and employers to appropriate training resources and job opportunities/candidates
  • Conduct outreach to potential job seekers and employers through multiple channels, including telephone meetings, websites, events, presentations, and social media
  • Manage all aspects of the Hire Autism Regional Ambassador and Mentor programs, including recruiting, onboarding, training, and monitoring
  • Oversee careers-focused scholarship program
  • Create content for new resources, social media platforms, newsletters, marketing materials, advertisements, press releases, and presentations

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years prior work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Capacity to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Exceptional organization and communication skills
  • Social media savvy with the ability to create a strong social media presence
  • Familiarity with WordPress, Google Suite/Drive and strong general computer skills, including email marketing, Office suite, and database skills
  • Strong sense of advocacy and desire to serve the autism community

Additional, Preferred Qualifications

  • Human Resources (HR), workforce development, or business development expertise
  • Direct experience working with autistic adults
  • Background in sales, marketing, communications, or grassroots outreach
