Overview
Reporting to the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement, the Associate Director of Reunion Programming leads and manages the reunion programs, which may include young alumni up through the 50th reunion and beyond. Reunion program management includes creating, developing and implementing an annual strategic plan of programming that engages reunion classes, focusing on the recruitment and engagement of reunion committee volunteers. This individual is responsible for creating engaging programming leading up to, during, and post Cardinal Weekend that connects and cultivates alumni celebrating their reunion cycle. S/He will be tasked with forming reunion committees. Those reunion committees will have fundraising goals and the committee members will be tasked with peer to peer solicitation.

In conjunction with the annual giving team, this individual will create a fundraising plan for reunion programs. S/He works independently and in collaboration with members of the Division of University Advancement to identify, cultivate, engage, and solicit gifts from current donors and prospects. S/He will communicate the values and mission of The Catholic University of America to alumni and friends through face-to-face meetings, online video calls, phone calls, and written correspondence. The successful candidate must be comfortable soliciting donors and friends of the University for annual fund gifts of $1,500+. Significant travel is required with up to 50% of the time spent outside the office visiting with donors and prospects. Visits mostly consist of travel in the DMV area and East Coast with potential travel to the Midwest, West Coast, and South.

S/He will be responsible for the creation and implementation of other alumni engagement programming.


Responsibilities
  • Lead all aspects of identification and solicitation of Catholic University's Reunion Program. With input and consultation from advancement colleagues; recruit alumni to serve as reunion committee volunteers, solicit their gifts, train them, provide strong support for their outreach efforts (peer to peer solicitation), and track progress against class goals. Lead a class reunion giving program that is implemented by reunion volunteers.
  • Build, grow, and manage a portfolio of leadership annual giving prospects. Develop prospect strategies, cultivate, and solicit University donors and prospects resulting in philanthropic support through personal solicitation visits, phone calls, and written communication. As needed, transition prospects and donors to other gift officers.
  • Conduct visits with leadership-level annual fund donors ($1,500+) and alumni in reunion class years; with an annual goal of at least 75 visits.
  • Coordinate on-going engagement activities for alumni in reunion cycles, reunion committee volunteers, and leadership annual fund donors, in conjunction with constituent engagement team to further enhance the relationship between donors and the University.
  • Coordinate with major gift officers to identify reunion cycle alumni that would be strong reunion committee volunteers. Develop strategies for major gift officers to connect with their prospects that are in a reunion cycle.
  • Coordinate with Annual Giving on solicitation strategies for reunion campaigns including emails, direct mail, and a phone-a-thon which help reconnect alumni with their alma mater and communicate the value of annual giving in order to increase participation and retention at all levels.
  • Utilize Raiser's Edge database to document communications, visits, and other relevant information about donor and prospect moves management.
  • Effectively communicate results of contacts to appropriate Advancement and University staff.
  • Have input and responsibility for the planning of Cardinal Weekend activities and other university events as needed.
  • Attend University events and functions, including but not limited to Cardinal Weekend and Commencement weekends, representing the Division of University Advancement as necessary and appropriate.
  • Take on new job-related projects as assigned.
  • Support the Division of University Advancement in achieving its strategic and fundraising goals, as well as Campaign goals, through positive and productive interaction and collaboration with all departmental staff, University liaisons, and external constituents.


Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and at least five (5) years of fundraising experience, preferably in higher education or independent schools or experience working with volunteer management, alumni relations, or event management is desirable.

Working knowledge of the Google suite of applications, Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to learn new software programs and functions including donor database and online community.

Possession of current and valid U.S. driver’s license appropriate to the type of university vehicle and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record (MVR) as stipulated in the Vehicle Guidelines and Procedures Manual administered through the office of Environmental Health and Safety. Annual clearance of MVR check through the Office of Environmental Health and Safety.
