The RAND Corporation is seeking a Development Coordinator to support RAND Development’s fundraising objectives. Working with the RAND Development team (specifically operations, advancement services, events and donor relations), the Development Coordinator will provide operations and project management support. This position will work closely with development staff to plan and execute donor events, facilitate mailings, support financial recordkeeping and budgeting, and assist with donor relations activities. This position reports to the Managing Director of Development. The successful candidate will excel in both database-type activities and engaging externally with donors. 

 

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage day-to-day financial business operations for Development, including processing invoices, submitting requisitions for purchase orders, reconciling department purchases, and managing vendor relationships and renewals; 

  • Assist Managing Director with budget tracking and budget forecasting;

  • Help manage staff operations, including onboarding and offboarding staff, serving as the department timekeeper, and managing department calendar;

  • Facilitate donor mailings, including event invitations, major gift announcements, and other regular in-house mailings;

  • Maintain inventory of publications and stewardship gifts;

  • Help coordinate donor events, including interfacing with vendors, facilitating invitee outreach, acting as registration lead, and tracking the post-event prospect engagement;

  • Serve as a main point of contact for incoming donor communications; 

  • Operational support for campaign activities, including planning cabinet meetings, serving as project manager for campaign case statement updates, and organizing funding opportunity materials;

  • Assess current operations processes, create and recommend process improvements;

  • Other special projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Interest in developing a career in the field of fundraising;

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with donors and staff;

  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, curiosity, openness to learning and flexibility;

  • Affinity for technology and computers and understanding of exporting and analyzing data, list generation/review and mail merges with ability and eagerness to quickly learn software and systems;

  • Detail oriented with the ability to plan, organize and work on multiple projects and report to multiple people simultaneously; make effective timely decisions and meet deadlines under general guidance and supervision in a dynamic and ever-changing environment;

  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events upon request;

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products;

  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Preferred: 

  • Experience using a CRM or donor database; 

  • Knowledge of financial systems or bookkeeping experience;

  • Event planning experience.

 

Education Requirements

AS/AA required; Bachelor's degree preferred
