The University of Colorado Boulder Advancement Team encourages applications for an Associate Director of Development for the College of Media, Communication and Information! Using sophisticated knowledge of fundraising techniques, this position serves as a major gifts' officer for the College of Media, Communication and Information (CMCI), managing a portfolio of approximately 100 top donors and prospects, and regularly secures 5 and 6 figure gifts. This position conducts donor and discovery visits with CMCI Dean or other College faculty/staff, crafts proposals, solicitation gifts and stewards donors. The Associate Director of Development accepts special projects when asked to ensure a full range of CMCI development and alumni relations activities are covered.

 

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

 

Major Gifts 
Develops and manages portfolios of individual and/or foundation prospects (80 to 120) capable of making significant gifts in order to secure major gift commitments over a wide range ($5,000 to $1,000,000).   Develop and implements strategies for each managed prospects. Works to cultivate existing and new donor relationships (individual, corporate, and foundation) with the intent of developing, sustaining and strengthening relationships; Personally solicits prospects for major gifts (including planned and complex gifts) or works with a team to make solicitations; Ensures appropriate stewardship activities occur for all managed prospects.   Conducts research, accepts referrals and makes discovery visits with the goal of adding prospects to portfolio. Conducts regular portfolio review and adds/removes prospects as appropriate. Works closely with CMCI dean and faculty to identify funding opportunities and develop proposals. Facilitates positive relationships between donors and CU administrators, faculty and staff. Works diligently to develop and maintain a strong solid understanding of CMCI, its departments, faculty, centers and goals. The ability to represent CMCI accurately to donors/prospects is a crucial function of the job.   Maintains detailed and up-to-date records, including entering timely and complete contact reports for donor interactions and 3rd party contacts. Collaborates across campus to serve donors' and campus' interests, makes referrals to fundraising colleagues as appropriate, and follows prospect management guidelines. Ensures timely completion of gift and fund agreements. Specific goals relating to metrics such as personal visits, solicitations, prospect stage moves, assists and/or other metrics may be set with and approved by management annually. Travel 6 to 8 times a year is likely. 
Other duties 

Other duties as assigned, including assisting with CMCI annual giving, leadership giving, alumni relations and Advancement communications projects as necessary; representing CMCI and CU Boulder at events in order to provide support and cultivate donors; serving on working committees as assigned; assisting with management and coordination of CMCI advisory board; attending Advancement and CMCI meetings and training as needed; and backing up the Assistant Dean when asked.    Please apply by June 19, 2022, for consideration.
