Position Title: Education and Engagement Specialist (Full-Time)

Accountable to: Director of Education and Yollocalli Arts Reach
Position Summary: The Education and Engagement Specialist is responsible for researching, developing, implementing, and evaluating on-site National Museum of Mexican Art (NMMA) programming for teachers, students, parents, families, and adults based on the NMMA’s exhibitions and art collection. The Education and Engagement Specialist will also manage different on-site programming in coordination with other NMMA departments and will also assist with other educational programming and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Education and Yollocalli Arts Reach.
Essential Functions:

Develop, implement and promote
year-round engagement programming serving adults, youth, families,
general public, and partnerships, to meet departmental goals and
objectives
Work to build strong and positive
relationships with NMMA staff, local and national artists and
educators, and community collaborators to create, implement, and
evaluate creative programming to increase participation
Implement on-site classes with NMMA
resources and educational curricular resources
Recruit, train, supervise, and
evaluate: 1 -2 interns each year, plus contractual artists by
providing direction and support ensuring their activities are
aligned with NMMA priorities
Develop online educational content
related to the NMMA’s exhibitions, collections, and mission
Integrate appropriate learning
standards and goals into arts and hands-on activities
Develop promotional materials for all
programming and provide information to the marketing team in a
timely manner
Keep detailed data and documentation
of all programming
Assist with other educational
programs and partnerships

Director of Education and Yollocalli Arts Reach
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Exceptional oral and written
communications skills required for the effective delivery of the
NMMA’s vision, mission and brand
Capacity to adapt to rapidly changing
priorities
Demonstrates the skill and
willingness to take initiative and to proactively anticipate
organizational needs including the ability to meet external and
internal deadlines as required
Must be able to plan, prioritize,
organize and execute multiple initiatives simultaneously and
independently
Willingness and ability to work
outside standard business hours is required
Ability to work well in a team
Bilingual fluency (English / Spanish)
preferred
Basic knowledge and appreciation of
Mexican culture
Passion for learning and professional
growth
Access to a vehicle for
transportation to offsite programing
Qualifications:

Educational background in fine arts,
art education, art history, museum studies, or education in
general
Experience with writing and preparing
arts integrated and interdisciplinary curriculum, and teaching in a
class structured format
Minimum 3 years experience in museum
education, classroom teaching, or related field
FLSA Status: Non Exempt
