EFL Associates is excited to partner with our client, the PKD
Foundation, in the identification and recruitment of their future
Chief Brand and Marketing Officer (CBMO). The PKD
Foundation is the largest private funder of polycystic kidney
disease (PKD) research and the only organization in the U.S. solely
dedicated to finding treatments and a cure for PKD.
The CBMO will serve as the lead for marketing and branding
strategies, oversee audience engagement, content distribution, and
user experience. The successful candidate will be a strategic and
creative thinker, and an engaged listener that will evolve the way
PKD presents itself by integrating programs and initiatives and
creating user experiences that make sense to the “patient journey”.
The CBMO will report to the Chief Executive Officer and manage a
team of eight across marketing and community fundraising. This is a
remote leadership role.
Credentials we seek:
- Minimum BS/BA degree (Master’s preferred) plus 15+ years of
marketing or communications experience and ideally 7+ years of
increasingly responsible leadership experience, to function as an
- Proven track record related to marketing & public
awareness, volunteerism, and financial management and planning
- Unquestioned knowledge and successful application of modern
marketing techniques and platforms tied to social channels, SEO,
lead generation, website management, collateral development, public
- Demonstrated background combined with a strong ability to
manage direct reports, ideally in a remote work setting, and create
meaningful annual performance plans.
- Strong vendor management expertise is a given – to effectively
supervise third-party vendors such as agencies and marketing
- Provide effective leadership; exhibit passion and the will to
do what it takes to achieve the organization’s mission.
- Ability to collaborate effectively among highly diverse
(geographically & professionally) team.
- Registers a history in managing and directing event planning
for an organization, including signature community fundraising and
national public awareness events.
- Has functioned as a strategic marketing advisor to the CEO;
previous direct reporting to a CEO, Executive Director, or
President will be viewed favorably.
