Position

The Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans seeks a Chief Executive Officer with successful senior-level experience; who is passionate about the Jewish community, continuity, and peoplehood; and has a singular ability to engage, galvanize and inspire people.  CEO candidates should have deep and relevant experience in driving success in a number of critical areas: Executive Leadership, Resource Generation and Development, Talent Development and Organizational Culture, and External Relations and Partnerships.

 

Priorities

  • Creating a positive organizational culture by building relationships, founded on equity and respect
  • Focusing on total financial revenue streaming from budgeting to financing and everything in between; creating resources to build out revenue creation—grants, major donors, corporations, foundations, programming, etc.
  • Ensuring the smooth implementation of the Federation’s recently developed strategic plan
  • Continuing to develop partnerships with agencies and community organizations to support current and future programs

 

Responsibilities

Executive Leadership

  • Be a visionary leader and execute and implement strategies and programs that carry out the shared vision formulated in partnership with the Board and community leaders
  • Lead the Jewish Federation in addressing the ever-changing needs of the Jewish community both locally and abroad
  • Drive engagement with the members of the Board of Trustees through frequent communication and clearly established priorities

Resource Generation and Development

  • Lead the professional team responsible for planning and executing financial resource development with emphasis on developing effective strategies to increase the Annual Campaign and the number of donors by diversifying the donor base and developing the next generation of donors
  • Build personal relationships to retain and increase both existing major donors and prospective major donors.
  • Create a strategic outreach plan and a leadership pipeline for the unaffiliated Jewish community

 

Talent Development and Organizational Culture

  • Recruit, lead, motivate, supervise, and evaluate a high-performance professional team that can effectively carry out the primary programs and mission of the Jewish Federation
  • Provide ongoing supervision, mentoring, professional development, and growth to Jewish Federation professionals
  • Create an environment of teamwork, collaboration, and appreciation; set and advance a positive culture within the organization
  • Ensure that the Jewish Federation’s human resources, operations, and technology are aligned to meet its goals and expectations effectively

 

External Relations and Partnerships

  • Together with the Board Chair, serve as a key spokesperson of the Jewish Federation’s vision, values, programs, challenges, and achievements; be the voice of Jewish New Orleans
  • Represent the organization throughout the Jewish community and the community at large, with private and public funders, and with national and international Jewish organizations
  • Build the Jewish Federation’s role as a resource, convener, and facilitator of strategic partnerships, programs, and initiatives
  • Deepen and strengthen the culture of cooperation both within the Jewish Federation and with its local agencies, synagogues, and other organizations throughout the Greater New Orleans area

 

 

Qualifications and Experiences

  • A deep passion for the Jewish community and a love for the State of Israel
  • Track record of successfully participating in a not-for-profit, private, or public enterprise with a diverse and complex constituency
  • Proven people manager and culture “builder,” who will actively work towards reshaping how the team communicates and interacts with one another
  • Strong background in galvanizing excitement and desire to engage the community
  • Experience in relationship building, high-end donor solicitations and a gravitas that will be appealing to these donors
  • Proven business and financial acumen with experience leading positive and sustainable financial and cultural change within an organization
  • Experience representing and speaking for the Jewish community
  • The highest degree of personal responsibility, accountability, and integrity
  • Excellent and transparent communicator with the ability to engage in difficult conversations
  • Willingness to balance personal vision with openness to new ideas/programs
  • 21st century proficiency in technology and social communication
