International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC)

Chief Operating Officer

The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), based in Denver, Colorado, seeks a dynamic, distinguished executive to serve as its next Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Founded in 1974, the IASLC has nearly 6,000 members from more than 100 countries, all united by a single goal: to conquer thoracic cancers worldwide. The IASLC's members—spanning specialties across the medical field—are raising the bar for care of patients with lung cancer. IASLC sponsors and leads educational events around the world and virtually, research projects and publications that advance the science of lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies.

Reporting to IASLC's CEO, Dr. Karen Kelly, this executive will partner with the leadership team and the Board to advance strategies and operational improvements that will build on the legacy and core strengths of the organization to continue to grow IASLC's impact, reach and effectiveness. The COO will ensure the implementation of the updated strategic plan that is currently under review while managing the internal operations of the IASLC. As a strategic thought partner to the CEO, the COO will provide leadership and management to ensure the effective operation of the association and will spearhead the refinement and implementation of integrated team systems with a focus on improving operational efficiency and achieving strategic goals.

The COO will have accountability for a diverse portfolio of line and staff functions that are of critical importance to operational excellence and implementing mission critical strategies. IASLC's delivery organization is especially key to its future success and the COO will play a pivotal leadership role in transforming IASLC's culture and operations so it is an organization that is agile, moves with speed and precision, and is well-integrated. This an outstanding opportunity to work with a dynamic CEO and executive team. A broad range of candidate profiles will be entertained, especially individuals with career accomplishments in operational dynamics that take strategy to reality, particularly within an association or membership organization. While experience in healthcare and/or nonprofit organizations is preferred, most importantly this leader must enjoy being a part of a dynamic, fast-paced culture that is passionate about the mission and future of the IASLC.

We invite you to examine the leadership profile at www.wittkieffer.com. Candidates wishing to apply should submit materials electronically. Application materials should be submitted via WittKieffer's Candidate Portal, which can be accessed here.
