Development Director and Donor organizer

Organizational Background
One Fair Wage is an organization seeking to raise wages, enhance working conditions
in the service sector and end all subminimum wages in the United States.
With the Great Resignation, millions of workers are refusing to work for subminimum
wages, employers are raising wages to recruit staff, and the political landscape to
advance policy to raise wages has changed dramatically. Given the historic moment,
One Fair Wage has launched an ambitious campaign to advance bills and ballot
measures in 25 states nationwide to raise wages and end subminimum wages in the US
- and through the process, engage millions of unlikely, low-wage worker voters
politically. One Fair Wage is thus advancing policy, voter engagement, employer
engagement, and culture shift activities to ultimately lift millions of tipped workers out of
poverty nationwide and engage them in the political process that governs their lives.
The Opportunity
One Fair Wage is hiring a Development Director and Donor Organizer to help raise the
funds needed to advance bills and ballot measures in 25 states and facilitate the
continued growth of our fundraising program. The specific areas of responsibility and
oversight include: donor research, relationship-building and stewardship, local corporate
and private foundation fundraising, and special events planning. The Development
Director and Donor Organizer will supervise a development team and work in close
collaboration with the Communications team and Founder and President.
The ideal candidate for this position is strategic, energetic, and innovative, and detail-
oriented, a strong written and oral communicator who is excited about the opportunity to
bring resources to movements for social change. The candidate will bring strong
organizational, relationship management, and planning skills to this role and will serve
as a driving force behind the team-oriented fundraising program at One Fair Wage
(501c3) an organization with a $3 million annual budget, and and One Fair Wage Action

(501c4), which is raising over $10 million to support ballot measures and voter
engagement in multiple states. This is a full-time position, reporting to the President.
Duties and Responsibilities
● Develop and manage annual organizational development strategic plan, including
individual donor stewardship, foundations, major gifts, fundraising events, and
online giving campaigns, in collaboration with our leadership team and staff.
Specifically, this Director will oversee a Development Manager, Development
Associate, and multiple consultants who provide support on prospecting, grant
writing and reporting, and event management.
● Support the President’s donor cultivation and stewardship efforts.
● Identify, research, develop relationships with, and steward individual donors to grow
our individual donor program. Draft and design donor communications.
● Conduct prospect research on potential foundation and corporate supporters. Work
with colleagues to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals and reports to a
variety of foundations.Oversee status of the agency’s pending and completed
proposals and reports, ensuring that all foundation deadlines are met in a timely
manner.
● Collaborate with key program staff to craft compelling narratives, obtain reporting
metrics, develop project budgets, and evaluate progress toward goals.
● Manage development calendar by tracking due dates and deadlines, coordinating
proposal development with the appropriate staff, and assisting with the writing and
submission of proposals, reports, and other updates.
● Lead in the utilization of a donor and contact database and maintaining all
fundraising data. Analyze data and produce reports for the board and senior staff.
● Participate in the annual budgeting process by providing fundraising projections to
the President
● Help to manage and grow the Development department, including hiring and
staffing strategy

Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience — 7-10 years professional
experience in non-profit work.
● Seven to ten years or more of demonstrated success in fundraising.
● Superior written and verbal communication skills.
● Tech savvy with exceptional skill for database management and data analysis.
● Highly organized, comfortable toggling between different activities, and attention
to details is a must.

● Proven ability to meet deadlines and work both independently and in a team in a
collaborative environment.
● Excellent leadership, strategy, management and organizational skills. Well-
organized with strong follow-through and time management skills. Strongly self-
motivated, and able to effectively problem-solve complex issues.
● Diplomatic and professional approach to problem solving. Ability to practice
discretion and sound judgment with financial information. Ability to work well in a
collaborative, team environment.
● Demonstrated commitment to and competency around diversity, equity, and

One Fair Wage can offer $100,000-$125,000 based on experience, medical and dental
benefits, and a very capable and motivated team to work with.
