Senior Director of Advancement

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

LITTLE FREE LIBRARY

SENIOR DIRECTOR OF ADVANCEMENT

About Little Free Library

The Little Free Library (LFL) nonprofit organization was built around the belief that everyone deserves access to books. Today there are more than 150,000 Little Free Libraries in 112 countries and on all seven continents. Through this literacy-loving network, more than 250 million books have been shared. Little Free Library believes all people are empowered when the opportunity to discover a personally relevant book is not limited by time, space, or privilege.

A Bold New Goal: LFL has grown significantly since its founding and is now poised to make an impact at a whole new level. The team and national Board have declared a bold and achievable goal: to place and sustain a book-sharing box in every book desert in the country over the next three years. LFL will accomplish this by developing national and community-based partnerships, engaging and mobilizing an expanding network of volunteers, and building organizational capacity and resources. Bolstering staff capacity in fundraising and volunteer coordination was identified as a critical strategy, resulting in the creation of a key new leadership role within the organization.

Little Free Library is seeking a Senior Director of Advancement to deepen, strengthen, and amplify its fundraising and community engagement programs on a national scale. This new leadership position will establish and implement comprehensive initiatives that advance the organization’s philanthropic support including individual, corporate, and foundation donations; sponsorships and special events; volunteer programs, and data analysis.   Little Free Library has a robust earned revenue stream and loyal customer base from its network revenue, as well as solid fundraising achievement. This position will build on and leverage these strengths to provide new strategic leadership in the national expansion of the organization’s fundraising success. This critical new role has the opportunity to be a key driver in the transformational future growth of the entire organization.

The position will report to the Executive Director and will serve as advisor and co-strategist, providing sound counsel and confidentiality.  S/he/they will directly supervise the Director of Corporate Partnerships and the Community Engagement Manager, as well as contract grants writers. Little Free Library recently re-located from Hudson, WI, to Saint Paul, Minnesota, in alignment with its strategic growth recommendations.
