City Year Philadelphia invites nominations and applications for the position of Managing Director of Development (MDD) and seeks a results- and team-oriented leader to assume this critical role. The MDD will serve on the executive leadership and site leadership teams, will oversee all development strategy and initiatives, and will provide mentorship and support to the members of the site’s development staff. They will be responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive, community-centric development plan to advance the organization’s education equity goals by strengthening existing relationships with and building new connections to the philanthropic community in Philadelphia, including corporate partners, foundation leaders, and high net worth individuals. The MDD will be responsible for ensuring the site meets its annual budget of $10 million, including $4 million from private sources. This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished fundraiser and team builder to join a dynamic organization that is primed to grow its philanthropic footprint across Philadelphia, in service of delivering transformational opportunities for City Year AmeriCorps members and the Philadelphia Public School students they serve in classrooms across the city.

Founded in 1988, City Year is an education-focused national service organization and is seen as a leader in the national service movement. The organization was created with the goal to dramatically increase participation in national service and was an early model for the federal AmeriCorps program. City Year has always been about developing and nurturing young people and believes that investing in them contributes to strong and vibrant communities.

The salary range for the MDD role is $109K-$138K and will be commensurate with experience.
