Philanthropy Coordinator
inewsource, is an award-winning, independent, nonprofit newsroom that produces investigative journalism focused on the San Diego area. It has served the region for 12 years with trusted reporting that has changed laws and lives. Our support comes from donations, big and small.
This position presents an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing team that is elevating an already successful major gifts program. We have an ambitious growth plan and seek a colleague to serve in the essential role of Philanthropy Coordinator.

Position Overview:
The Philanthropy Coordinator at inewsource supports the philanthropy team with effective processes and procedures. This position reports to the Director of Philanthropy and leads Salesforce administration, donation correspondence and recognition, and revenue web and donation pages. The Philanthropy Coordinator is also responsible for coordinating a comprehensive stewardship plan and for proactively fundraising with donors under $1,000.
Position Responsibilities:
Salesforce & Administration - 50%

Become the leader in Salesforce
processes, best practices and training
Leverage support from Salesforce
consultant for training and implementation
Ensure database integrity and
quality, including data entry, auditing and improvement
Create, update and provide Salesforce
reports, dashboards, campaigns and list views
Ensure acknowledgements within 48
hours of receipt including tax receipts and responses to donor
requests for information and add those to donor SF records
Maintain revenue shared drives so
information is clear and easily accessible
Manage fundraiser portfolios
including reporting and auditing data entry
Become the driver of data from
Salesforce, MailChimp, and donation processors by creating and
delivering revenue dashboards and reports regularly and as
needed

Manage a portfolio of selected donors
under $1,000
Coordinate stewardship strategy,
including letters, invitations and mailings. Includes checking for
accuracy of mailing lists, executing mail merges, printing and
collating, and processing postage and payments
Support events through donor lists,
reporting, attendance and proactive outreach
Conduct research on donors, prepare
profiles and wealth screening as requested
Comms/Marketing/Website - 15%

Support donor newsletter, campaigns
and appeals online and direct mailings
Create and maintain philanthropy
website pages, including supporter lists
Update donor stories, quotes and
recognition
Assist in creating reports, fact
sheets, presentations and other materials as needed
What you’ll need to succeed
-
Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of
previous experience in an administrative support role in a similar
setting. Nonprofit development experience is an advantage
Demonstrated knowledge and experience
with Salesforce or other web-based CRM and Google Suite and
Microsoft Office applications
A firm commitment to the mission of

Who we are
inewsource has spent the last 12 years dedicated to holding public leaders accountable, watching out for taxpayer money, provoking a search for solutions to governmental and societal problems, and strengthening democracy in our region.
We publish our content online, on radio and TV, and sometimes in print. We work closely with several local and national partners – our stories air on KPBS, and we’ve partnered with NPR, PBS NewsHour, USA TODAY and the Center for Public Integrity, among other outlets.
San Diego is a richly diverse place and we believe strong community connections and relationships grounded in respect and trust are vital to the work that we do. We strive to produce investigative reporting that is accessible and meaningful to all San Diego communities. Right now, we are a team of 20 people, including full-time reporters, editors, interns and a handful of people on the business side. We are growing thanks to a major national validation of our work and an investment in our sustainability from the American Journalism Project, a venture philanthropy group committed to saving civic news.
