The CERGE-EI Foundation is looking for a full-time Program and Fundraising Coordinator to support our busy Foundation team based in New York City. The Foundation offers a hybrid in-office work environment.
About Us
The goal of the CERGE-EI Foundation is to drive up the standard of economics education in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, so supporting these countries on their path towards economic and personal freedom. Founded in 1993, the Foundation was established as a fundraising body for the Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education – Economics Institute. Our mission is to bring in funds from private and institutional donors in the United States for the Institution and its projects. Furthermore we run several programs in cooperation with CERGE-EI. We are a small team, located in NYC and Prague.
The Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education – Economics Institute (CERGE-EI) is a joint workplace between Charles University in Prague and the Economics Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Established in Prague in the Czech Republic in 1991 after the Velvet Revolution, CERGE-EI offers U.S.-style graduate education in economics with a special focus on the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. CERGE-EI has carried out undergraduate and graduate outreach activities at over 200 universities in the region.
The CERGE-EI Foundation is one of the leading supporters of education in modern economics in the former communist countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the southern Caucasus and Central Asia. We are dedicated to both training future economic leaders at an advanced level, and to promoting basic economic literacy in society at large. We collaborate with other educational and research institutions, philanthropic entities and supranational organizations in this mission.
The Position
This is a unique opportunity to join a small and dynamic team as the organization celebrates its 30th Anniversary.
We are looking to hire a full-time Fundraiser / Program & Proposal Coordinator position based in New York City.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- General Administration, Prospecting, and Reporting
- Assisting CERGE-EI Foundation’s President and team with administrative support for running the Foundation office in New York
- Updating the website and external materials and communication, as needed
- Updating projects, proposals, calendars, and contacts through our project management and customer relationship management (CRM) software to ensure deadlines are met
- Conducting prospect research for potential donors
- Assisting with grant reporting to donors
- Ability to work early mornings to accommodate team members in Prague
Event Coordination
- Assisting with planning and support of Foundation events and meetings
Proposal Development & Coordination
- Contributing to the development of program materials, including writing and editing of proposals
- Managing the development, review, and formatting of supporting documents for proposals
- Reviewing grant proposals for overall quality and compliance
- Helping to finalize proposals for submission
- Providing feedback and collaboration to projects/proposals for process improvements
Experience:
- 3-5 years of professional experience, preferably in a fundraising role
- Experience working at or with a non-profit or communications firm is preferable but not essential
- Interest in higher education/economics development a plus
Skills and Attributes:
- Proven ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and organization
- Strong proofreading and copyediting skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- A strong sense of organization and responsibility for maintaining systems and tools critical to the Foundation
- Proven basic project management skills
- Basic fundraising / financial record keeping
- Sympathetic to the aims and values of CERGE-EI and the CERGE-EI Foundation
- Sensitivity working with other cultures a plus
- An interest in economics and the region we serve is preferable
- An interest in working as part of a small but growing team
