The Events Manager plays a leadership role in directing and managing event logistics from start to finish for the organization’s annual gala and other local events. He/She oversees the planning and management related to events, including site selection, contract negotiations, communications, implementation, sponsorship drive and project management across teams. He/She is responsible for all aspects of donor events, including fiscal management, volunteer recruitment and sustained cultivation. He/She actively participates in maximizing funds raised and increasing support and awareness of Project HOPE’s work by developing and maintaining new fundraising events, and has an annual revenue goal. He/She works with Development & Communications senior staff and the Office of the President to coordinate events and/or travel related to Board and Donor cultivation. He/She also provides logistics and support for individual fundraising events.



  • Deliver on annual event strategy and plan, including logistics, for the annual gala/event and other events throughout the year
  • Manage the event planner (consultant) and provide regular consultation and oversight
  • Meet or exceed individual annual fundraising goal set forth for events
  • Work closely with VP, Chief Development & Communications Officer; Gala/Event Board Chair; and Board Chair on overall theme and flow of Gala/Event
  • Direct development of all programming, including collateral material, speakers, honorees, videos, auctions, and entertainment
  • Coordinate event donor contact and stewardship with other relationships and channel stakeholders across the Development and Communications team
  • Maintain donor contact and commitment records in donor database
  • Ensure technology is used to enhance the donor/attendee experience at major events
  • Follow budget and work plans; negotiate with vendors as needed
  • Provide financial reconciliation and budgetary support on all assigned events
  • Track and submit all expense invoices
  • Provide key support to special events and programs
  • Solicit in-kind product and service donations for special events auction.
  • Provide leadership for event volunteers
  • Draft scripts, talking points, and remarks for events
  • Prepare post-event and stewardship reports for event sponsors
  • Maintains special event history, files, and statistics
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Minimum five years’ experience in event planning; marketing, communications, or public relations experience preferred
  • 5-7 years’ experience working in a development office or similar environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to function in a fast-paced office
  • Ability to multitask
  • Self-starter with attention to detail and timelines
  • Efficient and flexible
  • Professional, diplomatic, reliable, and highly organized
  • Experience working with, leading, and managing gala/event committees that support/manage galas or other events
  • Experience successfully soliciting event sponsorships for cash or in-kind gifts, maximizing overall fundraising for event
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required)
  • Experience working in a donor database or other CRM system
  • Experience working in Asana preferred
  • Strong project management and strategic planning
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Strong research skills
  • Ability to be a team player and work in a dynamic work environment; must be flexible to changing priorities
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends for various events
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the US

  • Emergency deployments may be in resource-deprived environments with austere living conditions.
  • Travel for extended periods may be by air and/or other modes of transportation.
  • While international travel is not a regular part of every job, programmatic needs may require it intermittently.
  • Project HOPE employees may be required to travel or work in countries where working conditions are classified as “hardship.”
