The RAND Corporation is seeking a Prospect Research Analyst to support RAND Development’s fundraising objectives. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Advancement Services, this individual will oversee prospect research and moves management for a wide range of portfolios on the Development team. The successful candidate will be highly detailed oriented, able to communicate effectively, able to work well in a team environment, and experienced in prospect research best practices.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Design and
prepare professional, in-depth research profiles of donors,
prospects and board candidates for Development staff and RAND
leadership
Coordinate
proactive research projects to identify new donor prospects for
Development Officer portfolios
Lead moves
management meetings
Vet new
donors and work with General Counsel to ensure new donor procedures
are followed
Prepare
prospect management reports
Assess
prospect pyramid structure; provide guidance to Development
leadership regarding Development Officer portfolio composition
Organize
cleanup projects and create missing data reports
Oversee
prospect assignment and stage entry for Development Officer
portfolios
Create
documentation and guides in partnership with Salesforce
Administrator and the Senior Manager, Advancement
Services
Train new
employees and hold regular refresher trainings for team members on
prospect research and moves management procedures
Other
special projects as assigned
Qualifications
-
Demonstrated
experience in prospect research required;
Ability to
design and prepare professional research profiles;
Knowledge of
prospect research platforms and tools;
Excellent
written, verbal and presentation skills to interact effectively
with staff;
Strong
problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, curiosity, openness to
learning and flexibility;
Advanced
knowledge of Microsoft Office products;
Must be able
to pass a background check:
Sophisticated operating knowledge of moves management systems
strongly preferred;
Experience
using a CRM or donor database preferred;
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree required
Experience
3-5 years of relevant experience required
Location
Santa Monica, CA or off-site
